Studying hard and getting good grades and prepping for higher academia. I was just blown away by the daughter of one of the accused saying more or less she was just there to party. And this is USC. She is big into social media, has been born into wealth and I couldn't think of a poorer choice of a person to be a contender for anything higher than a vocational school. A vocational school to become a better human being. Then, maybe she could learn a skill.

It was a huge shock to the American public to learn that being rich can be a huge advantage over being poor. Who'd a thought it? Somehow this whole thing is what I expected rich folks to do, and for the life of me cannot understand the shock displayed by the many. If you could shell out some bucks, and your kid go to a nice school and you had the money, can you honestly say, no sirree Bob, I'd way druther a poor underprivileged kid went to the good school and I'll send mine on over to Smelly U? I've known the rich, and I've known the poor, and in general, never the twain shall meet.

Another thing about rich folks, you ever notice they live in way more fancy houses than you do, and could park your Fiat in the back of their Escalades and Navigators? If there is no advantage in being rich, why go to the effort of getting that way?

In my own personal situation, my son would have to offer some of the old folks homes a bribe to let me in, AND I'd be okay with that!

No matter what happens to mother Loughlin, this will all have been a very expensive mistake. Federal criminal cases are expensive to resolve. The daughter will probably drop out from general apathy plus the embarrassment and harassment that will follow. It will not turn out to be worth it for the mother.

The private schools are bigger whores than anyone, and the real bribery occurs through long term donations, funding chairs, institutions, and donations for naming rights of rooms, buildings, and departments.

I know a situation in which a prominent attorney had a couple of grandsons growing up and considering college. He funded a couple of professor chairs at law schools while they were in college. Wouldn't you know it? The grandsons went to the law school and the law schools still have their funded chairs.

USC. Party school. She has plenty of company there. If she can read and write she's probably going to get a degree without much effort.

Those who actually want a useful education can get a good one there, but there are lots of baloney majors that leave you unemployable except to teach the same baloney to others.

These kids are learning their first "real world" lesson in political science AND introduction to true capitalism. They will both get accepted and probably get 1 credit hour for "life experience".

Social media influencer. That is scary - because, as most of us know, we really had our, uh, "stuff" together and understood ramifications and the way the world worked when we were in high school.

    Right?

Maybe, but stuff further south often comes up for sale in parking lots at the truck stop.

She may very well have assets that might be marketable in other ways. If you think all of the good looking women hauling the kiddies to school in luxury SUVs are well educated, well, I have some ocean front property over by Tucson you might like to take a look at.

I'm just shocked by the whole thing. Shocked, I say.

I know there are many unfair elements to this story, but most of us learned the word 'fair' doesn't mean much after high school. This is just stupid rich kids costing their stupid rich parents lots of money.

Call me when something important happens.

dont look now, she makes a TON of money right now... those social media influencer folks make bank. She has contracts with Amazon etc... the 500K her mom paid to get her into SC is long repaid... this all nets positive for them.....

and the poached video the news showed of her saying that she mostly wanted to party and go to ballgames etc... c'mon man... I have heard kids say stuff like that forever... the posturing of the young and dumb.. amplified and distorted like a trent reznor guitar solo.

It appears that William Mach, whom is married to Lori Loughlin, is an unindicted co-conspirator and is lucky his name is not in the indictment. The feds only got him on some brief audio recordings discussing less inculpating issues pertaining to school applications. They got the wife participating in writing, and she is getting the heavy end of it.

Will any of the students be expelled? I doubt it.

But they clearly had knowledge if they participated in photo sessions for sports they did not play, participated in cheating on standardized tests, and filled out and signed applications making false representations to the school about activities and test scores.

None of this surprises me.... Other than the fact I read that there were only about 50 people indicted (someone correct my numbers if I'm wrong please) .... I'd estimate there are hundreds and hundreds more who are guilty.
