I have a music man guitar that has P90 soap bar style pick ups. I was wondering if there are any humbucker replacement pickups that are alnico, require no extra routing, and are low wind for vintage PAF style sound? Here is what the pick ups look like:

    Nice guitar!
Why do you want to replace the P90's?
P90's are currently my favourite pickup.

Ha ha, I like them too, but I like ‘buckers, too! It would be nice to have some where no routing is required and where I could return it to stock if I wanted to. Again, I’m not looking for a hot sounding pickup.

Good excuse to put Firebird mini in P-90 ring. Duncan has two Alnico version: the vintage correct SM-1 and slightly hotter SM-3.

    .

"Mini-Humbuckers" are supposed to be the P90 replacements.

Remember that P90s are what PAF's tried to be but had to give up tone to get there. P90s were the benchmark.

Have you tried exploring pickup height adjustments, screw pole height adjustments, and swapping pots and caps yet?

Going to route a body and install a SD PHAT Cat for buddy this week. Will report back. I’ve never heard these. Curious how much better they are than the GFS Dream 90s.

I love P90s but these were very noisy and annoying to use at gigs. Sounded fantastic, though.
So I put a set of these in and I'm very satisfied with the outcome.

OP wants a p90 sized humbucker.

    Not a humbucker sized "p90".

I'll say what most are thinking but not saying: Buy another guitar.
    Fulfils that nagging desire.

I'm pretty sure SD makes a standard humbucker in P90 size, as well as some other pickup makers.

    I'm still loving these.

Lace Alumitones. They sound pretty much like the SD P90s they replaced - sounded great, but buzzy in some places. These have the same organic grind. Feed at the same gain, produce similar volume. Not totally silent but much less buzzy in the venue that made the SDs sound like a buzzsaw.

The creamery and a handful of others do make dual coil PAF style pickups in a P90 size. But... the PAF was really an attempt at getting the P90 sound without the hum.

MojoTone makes a quiet coil P90 at several different output levels which might be up your alley. Somewhere betwixt a PAF and a true P90. Not cheap, but for this goal nothing worthwhile will be. Idk. I’m looking into the MojoTone quietcoil P90 set for my revstar.

A mini humbucker or a Firebird pickup will fit a P90 rout.

Firebirds if you want some attitude, Minibucker if you want a tamer sound. The GFS A5 Fat Minibucker is a very good pickup.
If you want a Firebird, Cavalier Phoenix Firebird is the way to go.

He wants a vintage PAF sound, not going to get that in either type of minis. As I said, I think Duncan makes a P90-size PAF type HB pickup, and other winders also. Just look around at the usual pickup makers' sites.
