beings as there's lots of boomer age folks here, this is a good place to ask about this...i used to own, circa 1974 a really cool poster titled "Overpopulation". it was a picture (painting) of an overhead shot looking down on the earth which was covered with millions and millions of people. since my mom threw it away sometime after i got married i've never seen it or any reference to it anywhere. i've gone searching on poster sites on the net but zero. i originally got the poster at spencer's gifts in a mall.

i'm asking does anybody here remember seeing a poster like that and does anybody know the name of the artist who did it? this same person did several others and i would like to know their art better...

My favorite poster from the '70s was this one hanging on the headshop wall, of Mr. Natural

What does it all mean Mr. Natural?? It don't mean sheeit.

Wow, I'd forgotten all about "overpopulation". Makes me wonder when it's actually going to happen, as I've heard no updates in the last 20 years or so. I wonder if it will be before or after California drops into the ocean or we all perish from global warming.

I'm sure it WILL happen, of course. After all, the scientists all agreed that it would.

Good Lord look around you man! California did fall into the ocean... the ocean of wayyyyyyy too many people. We are swamped with people... we just stopped talking about it, rolled up the window and keep driving...

Just because people ignore the booger hanging out your nose doesn't mean it ain't there!

I'm still waiting for that ice age they were warning us about. We had very cool weather this Spring, so I'm starting to worry.

that's the one, Tom. i remember it a little different - but it's been 30 years since i saw it, so my memory is flaky. thank you very much for posting the link.

i wish it was possible to see something like this painting and have it affect me like it did back then. but one gets older and loses that capacity, or least i did.

Damn! That is one nice poster. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era.

amen to that. the earth's "carrying capacity" is right about now reaching the limits those wacky overpopulation researchers foretold ... it'll be interesting to see what happens. my guess is that clean water will become as precious a commodity as gasoline is now. dang, i'm glad i'm old!!!

there were several posters in that series...friend of mine had them up in his room where we used to ... smoke the unmentionables.
We may not have the chance to over populate...mother earth is trying to get rid of us already. I used to think downtown Montreal was crowded on a Saturday afternoon but thats changed since visiting downtown Tokyo on a Saturday afternoon...now THATS crowded.
There are over 120 million people living in a country 1/4 the size of the province of Quebec, 86% of which is mountainous. 20 million in the greater Tokyo/Yokohama area...just over 30 million in all of Canada. My opinion on " crowded " has changed.
