    Hey guys,

So I goofed on a repair and ended up with the wrong output transformer. Cut the leads and the reseller obviously won't taking it back.

I might have recourse but I'm not sure -- I'm ramping up for a build I MIGHT be able to use it on. Can you guys please advise?

The 40W transformer in hand is ClassicTone #40-18105

And the build I'm working up to will be 2x5881 cathode biased output section with a 430V B+.

What do you guys think? I don't want to push it.

I think that'll work just fine. It's a 40W unit suitable for, say, a Vibrolux Reverb which runs 6L6GC tubes. I'd want to draw a load line or two to see whether to run it at specified impedance or intentionally mismatch it higher, though.

    You're gonna run 5881's at 430v?. I like them under 400v.

If it's cathode biased, the plate voltage won't be 430 VDC.

Thanks Clint. Fellas across town at The Amp Guys concur. Was afraid I was going to get stuck with that OT for the Bassman. Worked out lucky for me I guess.
