    considering i live in england i reckon im gonna have to wait a long time for some warmer weather. and by warm i mean 10 degrees C, knowing our luck! I might have to find somewhere with some heating where i can spray.

    by the way, OLD CANe by S&S you are referring to sealing and sanding? even at this stage?

    please ignore my ignorance as i am a complete newbie.

    Yes and yes. You could build up a 100 clear or color coats and sand it all out but this is thicker stuff so it's less expensive to build up a base to sand smooth. You may still have some shrinkage under the sealer since you didn't do it next to the grain but that will take place over quite a few years and some people try for this look intentionally.

    Right. Moderate orange peal is not our of the ordinary.
