I guess I'm going through the combination of a second mid life crisis and GAS. I played bass throughout my teens and twenties. Sold off my equipment. Picked up a Martin acoustic in the 1990's and even took lessons, primarily dealing with music theory. Then life got in the way, again! Picked up an Epiphone Casino a few years back. But, this year it's been overkill. A Squire Bass VI appeared in my office earlier this year followed by an Ampeg Micro CL. After spending time getting the Bass VI sorted, I started eyeing the American Original 50's Telecaster. I'd always loved the 50's version. As a bass player, first and foremost, that baseball bat of a neck always felt great whenever I had one of these guitars in my hands. I love those 50's LP's for the same reason. Anyway, the 9 1/2" neck combined with the club like thickness was perfect for me. So, now I have my first Telecaster, a 2018 American Original 50's in Butterscotch and I'm having a ball with it. I have a mini Marshall stack that I picked up for next to nothing. It's an early Lead 12 setup that was actually made in the UK. In the cabinets I have one Celestion Gold and one Tone Tubby Red 10" speaker. I also picked up a used DSL1HR so I could play with some of the tubes left over from my audiophile days. I don't really expect to be playing in front of a lot of people these days but I have a couple of good friends who I do jam with every now and then. I'm just really happy to have my hands on a beautiful guitar that has amazing tone coming out of inch of it. So, a big hello to all my fellow Tele owners. I look forward to spending time on this forum and I'm thrilled to learn about the wide variety of RI's Fender has made since I was playing professionally back in the early '80's.
