    Greetings, ladies and gentleman,
It's been a while since i've posted here. I've never stopped watching you guys, though) Thanks, i've learned a lot.

These are sad relics of an old highly likely German guitar, i've got for free from my buddy's buddy.

This is gonna be good! I’m thinking you’re going to wind up with a primo guitar...

He swore it's Musima brand, this is the clue on the back of a headstock (part of a decal)

I was trying hard, but had no luck finding the exact match. Though, i tend to agree, it's German and was made in the communist part of the country, probably in late 50's - early 60's.

    Hey Parkwood,
This is a cool project. The reconstruction of the block in the body where it looks like the neck was either glued or bolted to will probably necessitate removal of the top or back. James (muzikp) may have some great insights on a proper approach.

Further inspection. Not that much of a hard times it was going through. But wierd construction decisions made that happen. Pine neck block

What's holding it together is binding, for the most))

It used to have 5-pin output

thanks Rob, but i feel even more destructive)))

Considering it has no real value, the plan is adding some of my trash to this trash and put it all together.

Heating up the knife was not necessary

Someone had a plan to make it a leftie

Funny, that the top and back are plywood, but sides are solid wood (hard for me to identify which species exactly). Oh, and wood figure on the back and sides appeared to be painted (o)

    Check you later,
    thanks

Wow, it’s as if that thing was just slightly on its way to complete natural self disassembly. And a pine neck block..... There are no words for it. So fitting it with a full length internal block and pickups are you?
    This will be cool.

Granted it had a detached neck, and top was coming off, but could you get any insights about its acoustics? Turning it into a semi acoustic with a full length center block is an option, but from here, if it has any acoustic potential at all, I’m thinking keep it acoustic with a piezo bridge—? And of course DPP is always a finishing option.

    Thanks guys for your intererst.
As for the center block, i guess it would make it to heavy. This thing is а convex lens shaped. 65 mm thick at the center of the body, 55 at the end and neck block area.

And BTW, this is not exactly a restoration project. The plan is having fun with it) I want it to have a bit of a Ric vibe, a bit Gretsch, a bit like cheesy 60s guitars such as Kay. And keep some of German gene too. Uncouth, not elegant jazzbox.

I've started with cleaning the top's back, gluing loose braces, smoothing things up, etc.

A huge piece of my documentary is missing. Here's top already glued back, with the new neck block, kerfings i've added and those little braces on the sides. Ready for the back
