Got the latest version of the OCD yesterday from Sweetwater. I already had a Joyo Ultimate Drive that I really like except the the knobs move too easily and the level control is too touchy. Fine for home use but not for stage. I have a gig in 2 weeks so that's as good a reason as any to buy a new OD pedal; right guys?;)

So far everything I loved about the Ultimate Drive is a touch better with the OCD. Because the level works well I've been able to really dial this thing in nicely. Playing through my SFVC I can get a lot of touch dynamics going from clean to crunchy just by digging in more. Riding the guitar volume knob gives a full range of overdrive level. Tele sounds incredible. LP sounds great too. Strat sounds good but I know there's more to be found there.

It's built like a tank. No worries taking it on gigs. It's very quiet. This version has the enhanced bypass. It came with it engaged and I've left it that way so far. I don't know if it's enhancing anything but neither do I think it's taking anything away. And it's made a few miles down the road from me.

Bottomline, the TS9 has been replaced, for the time being, by the OCD. As always, the true test comes when I rehearse with the band this Wednesday. I'll report back after that.

I recently got an OCD from sweet water too . It sounds really open an mid heavy at home , but I'm still reluctant to try & gig with it. Sometimes OD pedals that sound great at home levels totally get buried when playing live... I've had some pedals that sounded great at home turn to saturated mush when I stepped on it to solo at gig volume . Let me know if the OCD shines when playing out.... I want to try it & boost it with an NXR micro amp.

I don't find it to be as mid humped as the TS9 it's replacing. I'm play 99.9% rhythm with this band so I don't need to cut through as much as find my spot in the frequency range between lead guitar and bass. I think the OCD has a lot of versatility in finding tones when I use the guitar tone knob, the OCD tone knob and the HP/LP switch.

But it's all speculation until I play with the band.:)

Also, I'm running an SP compressor in front of the OCD with compression on low and boost slightly above unity. It really fills out the sound IMO. And if I need to cut through for a solo I have a BD-2 between the SP and the OCD. The BD-2 really brightens up the OCD tone.

    Guitar>TU-2>SP>BD-2>OCD>Soul Food (clean boost)>Yellow Fall (slap back)>TR-2>Arena>NS-2>Amp

I received one last week. I'm okay with the sound. It has way more gain available than I would ever use. That's okay. What's not okay for my use is that the pedal comes on too loud too fast as I roll up the guitar's volume. At first I thought it was just an issue with my Casino, which has linear taper volume pots. But I found the same thing tonight in a live setting with my Strat, which has an audio taper volume pot. The pedal wants to "rock" even when I don't want to. So back it goes.

I'm not sure what version my OCD is, but I love the thing. It sits very well in the mix during gigs. Just a good sounding and versatile OD pedal. Been a staple on my board for a few years now.

I gotta say I'm really diggin' the sound of the BD-2 driving the OCD. BD-2 is Keeley modded and I have the phat switch engaged. Add a little compression from the SP on lo and play the Tele through the Vibro Champ and I get a full sounding overdrive verging on distortion tone.

Lots of great tones on tap with this set up.

Finally got to try the OCD out jamming with my full band. Tele and the Bugera V22. It sounded great. I got a nice crunchy rhythm tone real easy. When my one solo came I gave it a goose with the BD-2. Sounded pretty good but still needs a little tweaking to really cut through. Maybe I'll crank the treble on the BD-2 next time.

So far I'm happy with the OCD. It has kicked the TS9 off my board for now. The next big test comes this Friday when we have our next gig.

Used the OCD on a gig Friday night. It sounded great. I found myself going to the OCD when I'd normally use the BD-2 and I was super happy. I easily dialed in tones that sat nicely in the mix between lead guitar and bass.

It's a keeper. It has now kicked the TS9 off the main pedalboard and has a permanent spot. At least until my name comes up for a King of Tone. ;)

Wanted to get one, but I heard these were kind of dark sounding and most guys liked the earlier versions better. Has anyone compared it to some of the earlier ones?

I've never played through a V1.x but I don't think the OCD is dark sounding. I have a TS9 that's way darker sounding.

In this vid they sound about the same to me. If anything the V2 sounds brighter:

I've got a v2 OCD, have owned several other versions V1.4, 1.7. Honestly all of them sounded similar although the newest version sounds a bit smoother and more open to me.

I don't consider any of them dark sounding. I thimk it’s a versatile pedal , I like all the settings, low mid and high gain sounds.
I mostly use a Strat w Fralin vintage hot single coils and a Tele w Bardens and sometimes my Santana SE with some PAF type pickups.
All the guitars sound good to me with the OCD.
