I'm very sorry to hear about your guitar being stolen.

All thieves should be strung up, but that's all I'm going to say.

The only advice I can offer about a replacement, is Washburn.

    This is mine. Washburn_1.jpg

    It's a Washburn Comfort G25SCE

It's very comfortable to play. It has a forearm bevel which you can see.

It has a very balanced tone, and I think it's equally good for picking or strumming. It also sounds good plugged in.

It usually goes for $650, so the price is reasonable.

I chose this one after playing about 30 guitars. I kept coming back to it.

    Three years later, no regrets.

    Good luck in your search.

Very sorry to hear this....I'm 72.

These stories of stolen axes (or anything else, for that matter) really makes my blood boil.
I've had my 1973 Guild D40 and the 1977 Ibanez Tele Silver Series 41 years/40 years respectively (avatar pic).
I can't imagine not having them both until I croak.
I've often thought what I would do if I caught someone in the act of liberating someone's guitar?.....you don't want to know. :)

Hope you can acquire your replacement soon.
If you check out the Guilds (obvious Guild endorsement :)) let us know what you think/model #/pricing?
After reading your account I need to go outside and kick something several times.

    Carry on....

Bummer. I am into my acoustic stuff more now than for many years.
Depending on your budget, but without spending an arm and a leg, look at Guild Westerly (not the new ones but the vintage ones ~ 1968-1990)) for nice acoustic guitars.

    I hate thieves.

    I like Yairi guitars.

    Why not get another one?

Man, that is awful. I’m sorry and hope you can find something that feels good in your hands again. I can’t imagine not having an acoustic and would probably go to GC and get a solid top Yamaha or something similar if money was tight. I played several the other day and they were very nice for $200-$300.

But I know it wouldn’t be the same. 27 years ago my only acoustic for twenty years running was wrecked. It was like losing my best friend or dog because that guitar had been with me everywhere. I have great acoustic guitars now but I still miss that first one and always will.

    My best to you.

A Martin Backpacker? After playing a Yairi? The latter is so bad I'd use it for one whack of a bowl at cricket!

The mini Martins (LX1, LX1-e) are travel guitars, and blow away the backpacker, not that that's a very high bar.

I live the low-key nonchalant way you drop this statement lol!

Op, so sorry about your loss. Hoping you find that guit or one that sings to you better than it did.

If you don't want to spend Martin or Taylor cash, but still want a wonderful instrument, I can't recommend Eastman enough.

Sorry to hear about that @ASATKat - I've enjoyed listening to your playing over on Twanger Central and I think an acoustic would sound pretty good in your hands as well. Good luck in finding something that will suit you!

You can get a Yamaha FG335, which IMHO is the best accoustic for the money, for under $100, at least around here. I've had 3 or 4 of 'em, & sound wise, they're hard to tell from my '77 Guild D-50. Also check Craigslist,Rverb,Ebay, local pawn, etc for your guitar.

Take the $$ you save & maybe buy a car; public transportation sucks no matter where you live.

The only things I've had stolen, to my knowledge anyway, were a chain saw and my air compressor I kept to inflate the car's tires. Yeah they weren't bolted down. Incredible how much that pisses you off! What is wrong with people!

That looks like a fine guitar for sale. If I was looking for another acoustic, I would consider buying it!
PS: to the OP - when I read your story I could feel it in my gut. It would be very sad to lose such an intimate possession.

...any chance it might be covered by insurance? I found you a possible replacement on Reverb and it's far cheaper than I expected, but the seventies were not kind on Japanese guitar prices.
