I wonder if that's a 'Dallas' Schecter. I owned probably seven different 'Dallas' Schecters. Living in Dallas, and it being the 1980's then, they were everywhere. I really regret letting go of all of those. They all played incredible, but those large magnet pickups tended to be muddy, although they sounded great through my old Super Reverb.

This one came John says from manny's in NYC in '79, and actually upon inspection appears to be earlier components as it bears no wood codes or serials. Super shallow neck pocket and massive woods. Dallas era was after the move in '83. Before that these guitars were from Van Nuys. ;)

Interesting to know. I had no idea they preceded Dallas. They way they spoke at the factory there (more of a shop, really) was that they were originally a Dallas operation. All I know is they were astonishing guitars up to that point.

much of the confusion stems from leftover parts that were taken in the move from the old location in california, as they continued to build out until they were used up in dallas. in '84 they began to use ESP and Lasido from canada for bodies and necks and schaller pickups and hardware... the hallmarks of the units made between '77-'83 are exotic woods, brass appointments, and typically the famed schecter tapped pickup assemblies they got on the map with... :)

Looks really nice, but I have to ask: How much does that thing weigh? In my experience, Schecters tend to be on the heavy end of the tele spectrum -- and with teak and rosewood, my shoulder hurts just looking at it!

Truely a late 70s guitar. Stylishly in vogue with the times; natural wood finishes and all the brass one could find. What the call they great brass scare of the late 70s; "Brass adds tone and sustain!" Yep that was the thinking at the time.

Schecter was one of the first parts companies and they made excellent parts that people had to have to replace all the crappy parts Fender was putting out at that time. Thats how we saw it back then. Schecter parts and Dimarzio pickups if possible.

    A really nice find superrock!
