sitting around drinking on New Year’s Eve and of course had to scan for Telecaster deals. Found a remaining MIM Standard for a great price and clicked the buy button.

It arrived today! Lake Placid Blue. Love it, my first ever Telecaster!

Cool thanks all. I like it much more in person than on the internet!

It came from Dave’s Guitar in Wisconsin and you can tell they spent a little time on it. All set up and not a sharp fret on it. Great place

My first ever telecaster is also a MIM standard, its an arctic white the one on my avatar pic.. the only reason is because the LPB one that I tried against it had few high frets and badly beaten up for a brand new guitar, otherwise I would have gotten that same color!

    Congrats! great guitars!

Funny - I got mine on for $299 on a “Fender Friday” at MF back in ‘09 when the economy was in the dumps post-crash, and it was supposed to be arctic white, but when I called they were all gone, so the salesman offered me any other color at that price, and I picked LPB w/maple. I have never regretted it.

My first ever Tele (and only one so far) was also a MIM Standard in LPB , mine was bought used and the previous owner made some not-so-wise choices in my opinion, so I swapped components to make it 100% unique to my playing style, upgrading a bunch of components in the process.

    Congratulations on a fine guitar.

LPB has always been one of the best old school colors to have survived all these years.

My first pro bass was a '66 LPB Jazz and one of my current favorites is a sweet playing '95 top loader I modified as a Nashville style because I couldn't see selling it just to buy a Nashville. Too nice.

Congrats on your new Tele sir and Dave's is fine dealer too.

    Nice, congrats :)

I've always been curious... you guys in the Know, is LPB anywhere close to the actual color of Lake Placid? :D

Fender seems to have returned to that more accurate original color but it's moved around a bit over the years. I'd say my '95 is pretty much the same as my '66 Jazz Bass was. The flash washes some of silver out of it so it looks a little brighter blue here than it actually is.

Oh, and water is clear so Lake Placid has no color. ;)

My MIM Standard was my first non-Squier telecaster, and I gotta say I really like it. I put a vintage bridge plate and slotted tuners on, more for style than anything else, and a set of A5 pickups, and it's my best tele yet. Love the neck profile.
