I agree but that's happening because the saddles are too far back. I can't see why a shim would help with that. Can you explain further?

Also the angle in the picture looks much more exaggerated than in reality. It's not more than 90 degrees. It's actually less than 90

Great looking build. Wenge is a great wood for a neck.

I'm not qualified to explain it any better.

And on the mathematical side, the break can't be less than 90. It would have to be more! And it should be.

    Okay:

A shim in the BOTTOM half of the neck pocket brings the strings down, in the way it angles the neck. So you can now lower those saddles.

And by a shim, we're talking VERY thin material.

In many cases, people just a business card! But in more extreme cases, you would need two.

For my builds, I use a wood veneer. It's like paper thin, but maybe a little bit thicker than a business card.

Of course, the way your nut is cut and placed matters too, but first things first.

You are completely right. The angle is bigger than 90 degrees. I confused things for a bit there

Oh I get it now. I already have installed a shim in another guitar I have but that was mostly because I couldn't get the action right now matter what.

Maybe I need to do that with this guitar too

I also need to add a bit info about the nut. There are definitely flaws with it, some slots are crooked, the slot size is a tiny bit bigger than needed in a few slots and I used a variety of saws, files and sandpaper I had to cut the slots and make them smooth. But I believe the slot depth is correct in all strings and the slot is cut at the correct angle following the path of the string thus making contact with the nut smoothly and mostly on the end of the slot. It definitely isn't perfect but I believe it's good enough for a first timer. I will replace it though sometime in the future.

    It's not just the slots:

It's how the neck was carved to sit the nut. Too shallow? Too deep?

This is way beyond my building experience. I buy necks with installed nuts.

Nice! Is there any kind of truss rod in the neck?

Now you need a headstock logo in a bouzoki style (artificial) ivory inlay!
