My first Historic Les Paul, a 2010 R8.

I was also looking at a ‘77 Custom, and a Gold Top R7, but this R8 won out.

I think that the color is a “Bourbon Burst”.

    Very nice, gridlock.

I'm not that schooled on Les Paul models, can you tell me the difference between an R7 and an R8?

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the kind words.

    The R7 is a 1957 Reissue and the R8 is a 1958 Reissue.

From my understanding the necks and finishes are the main differences.

Tell us more. I'm surprised to see a 50s carved top LP with a cherry back and neck. Is that actually vintage-correct?

Very nice! Like the contrast between the light back and the bourbon burst.

congrats, hope she plays as good as she looks ! ! ! which year is it?

pretty much, reason for the now brownish/natural look on the old ones is that they faded (as did the tops...) they didn't solve that "issue" until early 1960 i believe
