2007 R8, VOS Custom shop. Best sounding and playing LP I've come across in many years.
Looks great. Enjoy!
Beautiful! My favorite color of LP.
A beauty, congrats!
$2200 and all the tags and authentication docs. I've played many $3-5k LPs that looked great but had limited sustain or just average tone. I've gone on several guitar hunts for an LP over that last 5 years to find one that plays and sounds like the late 50s or early 60s models I remember from my youth. One time I ended up buying a Tele Deluxe because it sounded better than most of the weight relieved LPs I tried out.
This one is not weight relieved and has the fat 58 neck that Mark Knopfler raves about. The sustain and clarity is exceptional. Feel lucky to have run across one so reasonably priced. Thanks all.
Congratulations! I'm jealous! Enjoy!
I have an LP Trad Pro with unchambered body and fat 50s neck and it really sings, too.
Congratulations! That's a real beauty, and I hope to own an R8 some day as well. Currently "making do" with an MIJ Orville Les Paul that is pretty hefty and sustains for ages haha.
Nice. I think Historics are mostly excellent.
I have an R4. Great guitar.
Would love an R8, as I prefer plain tops on burst LP's, and have no humbucker guitars (except my Gretsch with Filtertrons).
I have to say learning about Les Paul's is like studying for a final. There are so many serial number variations, model changes, finish types, etc. Then there are premium grade woods and standard woods not to mention neck types, standard, traditional, HP, classic, custom shop, VOS types, pickup variations, wiring schemes, ad infinitum. It takes a long time to research and understand the type of guitar you may want to own. Really an intellectual process.
Contrast telecasters. Light, heavy, maple or rosewood, color, choose your pickup. Made for luddites like me.
congrats, enjoy it!!
And now it's home. Had to wait for the 30 day hold policy at GC. Hope it gets along with the rest of the gang.
Yeah, that'll fit the bill very nicely! I looooooove a good plaintop. I have the japanese equivalent of that same guitar made to the same specs (deviser/bacchus) except for fret over binding and burstbucker pros instead of standard BB's. And its quite the looker too.
congrats on the guitar, it doesnt get much better than a good custom shop r8!
What you really want is an Indecent Les Paul!
