I've always wanted an ES style guitar. I have never been able to bond with the ES-335 and I've tried many over the years. I once played an ES-336 which I liked a lot but was unwilling to spend that much. I have tried the Epi ES-339 several times and almost purchased one occasion but my snobbery got in the way even though the fit and finish seemed excellent.
I've been cleaning out my old stuff and brought some pedals etc to GC for a trade. Walked out with this and a gig bag for a shade under $150.
I am very pleased with it. I like the split coil feature for both neck and bridge pickup. This is a surprisingly nice guitar for $450 list. My only minor complaint is that the stop tail piece and the tune o matic bridge seem excessively cheap and plastic feeling.
I have a number of custom shop instrument but I'm past spending large sums on guitars. This scratches my ES style itch. Sorry for the bad photo. fullsizeoutput_14d8.jpeg

I bought a Epiphone ES-339 Ultra several years ago and it's a decent guitar for the money.

As far as guitars go I'm the same as you, almost all my guitars are American made.

No shame in an Epi, tho my own 335 has muddy pups and scratchy pots

Love the pro editions, esp the 56lp and a good Casino

My buddy had one of these for awhile and I couldn't believe the fit and finish at this price point. Have fun with that beauty!

I got one of these this past summer (except mine is vintage sunburst). Excellent guitar! Congrats!

Fortunately the pickups on this 339 are not muddy at all. This is a very versatile guitar since you can coil split either pickup. While not a P90 sound the single coil option can mimic, to some degree, a Casino.
Again, I am quite surprised at how well constructed it appears to be.

Nice! I got a used sunburst 339 pro last year for pretty cheap and it's a great complement to my tele. It's a funk machine too.

Would love one of these. Modern Epis are great guitars and the 339 and Casino Coupe are both superb. Saving the pennies...

I got a deal on a Pelham Blue P90 Pro at MF awhile back, it's a great guitar. I did monkey around with the bridge/tailpiece and installed a Tone Pros set which made it even better.
Fun guitar, not too big, and took care of my semi-hollow GAS.

    Congrats on the NGD!

Congrats! Love mine, the coil splits offer a lot of tonal variations and the size and neck are very playable.

I purchased a Sunburst Epiphone Es-335 Pro recently and I just love it. Came intact and ready to play. Nice build quality. Had it professionally set up, fret polish, action lowered, intonation and a new set of D'Addario 10's. No modifications planned so far. It plays like a champ. I think this is sort of a make up for the Gibson ES 225 I traded away for who knows what in the 80's. Love the push pull selectors for the pickups. I am still exploring the sounds that gives me. Give it a shot, for the price, I thinks you can't go wrong.

Late to the thread, but I gotta say that I love the Wine red. One caveat: if you want to keep shiny chrome, you will have to replace the pup covers, etc. After 3 years, mine look UGLY!!! I don't really care, but you might. It'll still play and sound fine, regardless.

I got the blue p90 one as a gift a few years ago- gigged it several times, it always surprises me how bold a little ride it is.

Aren't ugly p.u. covers "character"? They seem to be around here on "other" guitars! :)

I have the Ebony one, and it's the nicest Gibby style guitar I've ever owned. I now want the Pelham Blue one too, 'cause it has P90s, and it's Pelham Blue!
