Hi all, just got one however wondering pickguard is it all the while 3 ply from earlier till recent batch? Pickguard for mine is 5 holes instead of 8 holes 3 ply.

Appreciate advice and thanks in advance.

    Lovely congrats.
That's a replacement guard. Unless they've changed the specs. The 64 eggshell guard is the pick of the bunch for me.

Hmm, they should then be up front to me about it. I will check further as AV 52/58 using such pickguard whereas 64 with 3 ply 8 holes one.

    Thanks mate, cheers.

The AV '64s seem very popular right now. WW had 8 vintage white '64s in stock for all of a week before they sold through them.

In comparison they also have/had 8 '72 Customs (down to 5) and a over 10 '52s (some with and without neck 'buckers) and those are all still available.

Something about those '64s made them quick movers!

    Congrats and HNGD! :D

Teles look so good with RW fretboards. I'd love to own that instrument. Congrats!

The above was recently posted on the '64 AVRI owners sub-forum.
Perhaps there was a run of 5 hole pickguards? ... Quick email to Fender should sort it out?

Edit... Ah Ha... Same Q/person !

Mine is 8 hole and pick guard mounted pickup. Easy to remove that pick guard to see if there are other holes.

Thanks guys, yup already open up pickguard partially to check and its with 5 holes.

Email Fender Customer Service as well and they feedback maybe its due to production wrongly installed pickguard as this is from very early batch.

It plays well, sounds good and its a keeper.

Added more pics as well... cheers.

That's the one for me. My pic of the bunch. I came so close but fell short on funds and got an Am Std. One day though i'll trade up to this. Just perfect to me.

    HNGD!

It's difficult to tell from the photos, but it looks like you have smooth saddles and not threaded. Is that correct?

Since Fender seems to only produce one body for both the 58 and 64 tele production, the difference becomes the neck and pickups, as well as the guard.

Definitely correct saddles for the 64. The 58 has smooth steel, not threaded.
