    Hi there folks.

It`s finally here, a `55 whiteguard. I`ve been waiting a couple of months for this now, had to sell some guitars to fund it etc. But it was all worth it!

The neck finish is all original, but I had it refretted before it was sent to me. So it plays incredibly good! It has a medium soft V shape - just perfect! And it`s signed by TG himself, so that`s pretty cool :)

The body has a very nice refin, lots of nice subtle checking and lightly aged.
And it`s superlight; the lightes tele I`ve had.

Pickups are rewound; they sound really killer. Very clear and articulate!

Some of the hardware is original, but some of it is from the early sixties.

The pickguard is a new replacement, it`s ok aged, but I think I`ll try to get an original 50s pickguard some day. I think this guitar deserves an original guard :)

Anyway, this is basically my dream guitar. I never thought that I`d own a 50s tele, but with these issues the price was right imo, so I jumped on it. It plays the hell out of all new teles I`ve tried, and I also think it tops my maple cap `68.

I`ll take some better pictures as soon as we get some nice weather here!

But here are some teaser pics :)

Yummy. As much as I always loved blackguards, I think I now prefer whiteguards. This one does it for me. Enjoy!

    Very nice, Micheal !

I hate to be the first to point this out..but there is something decidedly 'funky' going on on the lower its been 'deepened' or something, particularly noticeable in pic # 2, the rear shot..I hope it's just the perspective, but I somehow don't think it is..

    Hopefully I'm wrong- wouldn't be the 1st time ;o) !!

Yep, bodies were cut by hand in those days and there were variance from guitar to guitar.

    Very cool!
Many years ago (28ish), I had a refin 55 white guard Esquire.
It was a medium weight guitar, with a one piece body.
    The neck was amazing.
I can't quite recall, but I think it had the neck pickup added.
I foolishly sold it, David Bean of the band The Call bought it.
I also had a 57 white guard Tele, also a refin with a one piece (light) body.
I gave that one to a friend, I didn't love the neck on it, too small.
The white guard era guitars are my favorites.
    Jim Messina had/has a white guard 50's part-o-caster/composite.
Many Teles of that era had one piece bodies, does yours?

Thanks a lot guys. I`ve played it quite a bit lately, and it just keeps getting better. The neck profile is just killer, it just fits my hand perfectly.

I can`t imagine a tele being better than this :)

I`m hoping you guys won`t mind some more pics ;) It actually didn`t rain today, so I took some photos outside.
