By chance walked into a local shop to sell 4 guitars (don't ask . . .) and they had a 2011 SG in mint condition for a killer price.

Walked out with a fat wallet AND a new-to-me SG. (4 out, one in isn't TOO bad, right hon?)

A little "heavier" than some at a whopping 6 3/4 lbs, which I like. No neck dive.

No idea if it's rosewood or maple. Plays great.

They are about 6.5lbs. Not heavy at all.

I think...and may be wrong...that the SG Standard was not made with baked maple. I think it was rosewood, with lower end models maple?

EDIT--found a 'limited run' vintage sunburst that the seller claims is baked maple? So...still looking for Gibson's official specs.

Love the look of this guitar! So here's a question for you - given that there are identical '57 Classics at the neck and bridge (that's my understanding, anyway), are the bridge and neck sounds distinct enough? Are you considering replacing either pickup?

The 57 classics sound fantastic. They will not get changed. The neck and bridge both sound completely different.

Just saying check the material before purchase if it matters to you is all.

I mean, you could assume that Gibson deviated from spec zero times and zero sellers ever listed a standard limited as a standard, or you could check before you buy.

Not that it matters to me, I think baked maple is excellent.

Lovely '17 Standard you have there. I have one too and I love it! Enjoy it.

Well upgrades and upgrades .. I've never been keen on the 57's and much prefer the 490R/498T combo, so not for everyone.

But other than that the 2017T is an amazing guitar. Much prefer the small pickguard and you get locking tuners as well.

    Congrats!! :)
