I've been after an '83 Tele for a hot minute now. I've cruised this forum, other forums, placed wanted ads, checked craigslist, ebay and reverb religiously and just never came across exactly what I wanted. Last week I came across a craigslist ad in Dallas, Texas for a sienna burst '83. I asked the seller to get me the neck stamp date and lo and behold it was even a Nov. 1983 (birth month and year). Seller was willing to ship to my state since I had been cruising all of USA's CL ads and it was one of the best transactions I've ever had online buying probably anything. I haven't had a chance to really clean it up yet but I get too excited not to share my Tele's.

    I love birth year/month guitars.
Been fantasizing about that for years.
Congratulations and if you run across a July '68 LMK!!!

Cool. I bought one of those new.

First I put a Strat pickup in the middle, and then an original WRHB in the neck. It was my main gigging guitar until I found a nice '66 Tele.

That's a clean unit. Nice alder grain under the burst.

Congrats - a birth year guitar is cool enough, but a birth month as well is a real find! I don't want to think about how much a June 1962 Tele or Strat would set me back.

I finally had a second to clean it all up and restring it. GAT DAMN this sienna burst is pretty. only needed a slight setup of string height, slight neck relief, and intonation. Apparently a contestant on America's Got Talent was a previous owner a few years ago. His loss! haha. IMG_8068.JPG IMG_8069.JPG IMG_8071.JPG

That's nice and sentimental to me too. The first "new" tele I ever bought was this Sienna. Sadly, I let it go when I bought my first '52 RI in '88.

I think those Sienna sunbursts are great! They look much better than the standard Fender 3-tone sunburst. Really pretty close to Rickenbacker's Fire-Glo color. Congrats on the nice guitar!

Congrats. Those Sienna Burst Teles are real sweet.

As for birth year/month guitars, I don't think I'd be too interested in an October '72 CBS Tele! But if I'd have been born in November 1950...

Very Nice! I poke around for an 89 MIA Strat on occasion for the same reason. But I find myself not liking the colors strats came in at the time. Maybe someday.
