Well last year, to see if I could still build a guitar I made this Tele-shaped thing of a piece of burled maple which would otherwise been rendered to the fire pit.

The result perhaps surprisingly is actually more like an SG than an Esquire but the top loading bridge and Seymour Duncan Hot rail will do that to a guitar.
tele.jpg I made this godawful pickguard of perspex which I spray painted black and people were going "Dude, that pickguard ruins the whole guitar.

So today I bought a sheet of Pickguard material and made a new one, which although still rough around the edges, makes the instrument look a lot better.

Also visible here are the black spots where the spray paint of the original pickguard embedded itself into the body and that I made an arm chamber since the body felt rather blocky and uncomfortable.
DSC01817.JPG It might not be perfect but it's so much nicer.

I think the shape of the second one fits it better.

I like the contrast of a Black guard better though, but that's me.

A nice wooden pickguard might look cool too.
    Just sayin’.
