I'm thinking it's a combination of laziness, social media, and the Kardashians.

But Norwegians, Norwegians! And they're saying this drop hasn't occurred in US IQ figures, yet. Where's your Kardashians, now, eh?

I think that humanity peaked in the late 60s early 70s and now we're headed back to the caves.

With Chumlee making millions, why should anyone worry about an education?

Most intellectual conversation is frowned upon and met with feigned or real outrage these days. Unless you want a label attached it's easier to just play dumb and pretend to agree with the herd without questioning anything. Reality TV shows and celebrities will show us the way to a happy successful life playing by the new rules.

It's '80s. Although apparently poor spelling and grammar is not a register of intelligence, at least according to my wife who has poor spelling and grammar.

It depends on the group with which you associate. I've been going to the informal meetings of a local Humanist group and, by Jove, we have intellectual conversations!

I don't associate with any groups. I often try to have intellectual conversations with random individuals but it is getting harder to do that. Especially with folks younger than myself.
Apparently free thinking and common sense can be seen as being old fashioned and outdated.

If you have a brain and an education, it's now frowned upon in some circles, and you're labeled an "elite".
