Picked this one up brand new last week, cant be too many of these left now that the American Originals have been out a while now. Sounds awesome, and very...Straty.... ;) Love the thicker profile neck too.

    Cheers, Scott.

Very nice! I love this color - Fender finally got Sherwood Green right (the older version on the AVRI '62s and '62 Hot Rods was too dark) for this version. Actually I like both versions of the color, but the AV '59 version is just so "right".

Tell us about the neck, please. I thought 59s had a thin D-profile.

    Love it!

I recently picked up a used '59 in black. I think it's a fantastic Strat.
Not sure I'd describe the neck as 'thick' but since you said 'thicker', and we don't know what you're comparing to, I will let it slide... ;)

The neck has some taper, and some shoulders. I find it very comfortable. Same thing with the contours on the body - very comfortable.

    Congrats!!

Gday mate, the last Strat I had was a 2012 American Standard, so this one has a little more meat to it, which I really like. That Black '59 looks great!

Yes its described as a thin D profile by Fender, but its still thicker than an American Standard. I guess when they say D profile most folks probably think Early Tele neck, so its thinner than that. It does have a similar feel to a Tele neck though, which is why I think I felt instantly comfortable with it.

    Cheers, Scott.

That sure is a nice guitar. I'd much prefer it to the newer AO series, i'm sure they are nice enough guitars but i just prefer the vintage spec on the neck. Excellent choice.

    Long lost brothers?

And congrats Scott! IMO this is one of the best modern day built Strat’s. I even got an offer to swap with CS Strat, declined. Even though I basically dislike Strat’s, this one is a keeper until I die. (2016 model)

I wish you many happy moments with your new guitar!

Edit: This SGM is awesome. And Flash Coat makes it quite easy to relic, if you don’t take extra care for it. I left mine in a sofa for a while with children playing around. They dropped it to the floor, even though they didn’t admit a thing :) Very nice new ding and some flaking. But I’m cool with that.
