I will second, of third, or fifth, the recommendation of Black Mirror. Yes, the initial episode is pretty, well, um, weird, but it was also had some pretty amusing moments.

I may have missed it, but I'd also recommend Orange is the New Black. I liked the first few seasons of House of Cards, but lost interest somewhere around the third season, I think. Bojack Horseman is also pretty good, spotty at times, but it's well done. I also watch, while working out, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. The best episodes of that include Obama, Bob Einstein, who did two of them, and Zack Galifinakis, which is as weird as he is.

Documentary-wise, yes, Wild Wild Country is great. As was the first season of Making a Murderer, even if does have some flaws. The second season was not nearly as well done. Evil Genius was good too, as was Murder Mountain, if you're into that kind of thing.

I like Norsemen. Quirky comedy set in Viking times. After watching it I speak with a Norwegin accent for the next 2 days.

Lots of Black Mirror recommendations I’ll have to check it out.

    I really enjoyed Narcos.

You HAVE to watch Band of Brothers. Everybody should watch that series.

    Besides those already mentioned:
Blacklist was one of our favorites.
The Last Kingdom is very good if you like Viking era bloodshed.

Hard to recommend without knowing the audience and tastes. I broke these into categories hopefully it helps:

    Family friendly

    Lost in Space
Nailed It! -- a very silly and funny baking competition
A Series of Unfortunate Events -- the quality of this series is really great.

    Sci-Fi/Horror

    Black Mirror
Stranger Things -- Steven Spielberg + John Carpenter + John Hughes = Stranger Things
Dark -- A German production, it starts slow but was quietly one of the best tv shows last year.
    The Haunting of Hill House

    Comedy

    Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
    Master of None
    Arrested Development
BoJack Horseman -- Despite the silly looking premise this show gets very dark
    Mystery Science Theater 3000
    * Netflix also has a wide variety of exclusive stand up comedy if that's your thing

    Food

    Salt Fat Acid Heat
    Ugly Delicious

    Crime/Thriller

Narcos -- Super pulpy but fun.
    Mindhunter
    Ozark

    Reality/Documentary

    Wild Wild Country
    Queer Eye

Ozark & Stranger Things are the latest we watched can’t wait for the next seasons. Stranger Things took a couple episodes to get into it then could not stop watching. One thing nice about Netflix no commercials, no censorship, but honestly, I haven’t seen anything to much above your typical modern sitcoms. If there is a downside it’s really easy to watch an episode and continue on to the next episodes.

    Longmire is great.

Just finished Narcos. Loved it but found the subtitles were very hard to read when the scene was a lighter background. Luckily it was easy to get the "jist" of it.

Jessica Jones and Daredevil were good enough to keep watching.

If you're a foodie then watch Chef's Table. The best food show ever.

I loved the Sopranos once I got into it and also Deadwood. I realize I didn't give any likes... Mainly because I'm not sure what I like... I don't actively watch too much TV anymore but it's often on when I'm in the room. I like the old Twilight Zones and Night Gallery, etc. Not sure what else really... Comedy usually works.

I really enjoyed Narcos. I could not stop watching from the second I started the show. Narcos Mexico is season 4 but it’s technically a “spin off”

Shows that these things vary by region. Shetland I really like but they are based on old books so there is one featuring the Shetland to Norway ferry completely ignoring that the ferry service stopped about ten years ago. It's fiction so I guess that's okay but I did spend half an hour on the internet trying to find ferry prices before I found out.

I'll stop doing these little inserts but Hinterland is great. Very reminiscent of being dragged around small Welsh towns in the rain during the school holidays ( without the murders - my childhood holidays were bad but not that bad!).

I was really amazed at how the Welsch terraine reminds me of Kamloops and the Yukon in parts

Timely thread. While not a Netflix series, I'm about to finish Season 2 of Westworld. I'm starting to look for something to finish off winter as once the days get longer and warmer, I watch no TV (except baseball).

Westworld, in my opinion, is tantalizing and brilliant. I'd be curious to hear from those who really like it what else they've enjoyed.
