My wife and I have recently started a new chapter in our musical journey. Drummers in our neck of the woods have left a lot to be desired, so we're going to a duo. We're both in our early 40's, with her on guitar and myself on bass. We do a lot of Dylan, Young, Beatles, Stones, the usual classics. We have a tad of 80's/90's, but mostly 60's. We're trying to come up with a name for the duo. It's always fun, but we're a little short on ideas. Our previous names were Caravan, Sonic Tangerine, Copyright Infringement (not our pick), and a couple others I can't even remember the name of. We were thinking 'Terra Firma' or something, but it sounds a little 80's hair band to us. We may add a drummer later if it works out, but doesn't look good. Any suggestions you guys and gals have would be appreciated. We've got a pretty good sense of humor, so don't hold back.

I think Dylan Young Beatles & Stones has a good ring to it...

    or DYBS for short.

    Better yet - DBS&Y.

Hi Sweet Lou -- why not go with Sweet "xxx", i.e.,

    Sweet Home
    Sweet Pea
    Sweet Tea
    Sweet Potato (?)o_O

What's the Mrs' name - maybe add that in somehow. IMO, it should be about the two of you, not some abstract thing. Of course when you add a drummer, it'll get interesting.

Wife is Kelly. No real good nickname yet for her. At least not that I can use in public. We already have several things booked and we're getting to where we need to figure it out soon. One of our gigs in a bit is at Stringtown Cellars. We both maybe thought 'String Town' sounded decent. Maybe use our initials and do 'RK Radio' or something. Forgot how hard it is to come up with a good name.

String town is good and you need something classy like that...

    Tweed Jacket
    The Charmers
    Ruby Respect

Or the old stand by, guaranteed to pack the house

    Free Beer

Free beer without free beer in my neck of the woods is not the best choice to ensure your continued health.

A husband and wife duo? Why not just use your first names?

    Kelly & Lou

It's who you are, it's down to earth, and you will be able to cash checks written to your band name without having to show a DBA certificate.

You need something to subtly evoke the 60's 70's without being too in your face:

    Colorsound
    The Caverns
    Carnaby Street (The Carnabies)
    Kelly and the Groove
    King's Road
    Chelsea Sidewalk
    The Villagers
    Greenwich and Back

    Just some thoughts .....

I agree with this. You don't have to use your real names, if you want to make it more punchy and memorable. Last names could work, such as Seals and Croft or Johnson and Johnson. There was an old 60s tv show called He and She, definitely a product of its time.

Two's company , Three's a crowd ,Stuck in time, Heard it got the 'T' Shirt, Bass & Axe, Electric Time Machine, Our band had a great name ....'The Jets" when we turned up for a gig they had billed us as 'The Gents' so choose carefully!
