    I just picked up what I believe to be a 69 tele, when I took the neck off to look for a date stamp there didn't seem to be one, there is however what looks like an 8 and H with a 9 or a 6 , does these look familiar to anyone ? Also on the neck pocket there is a green circle with the #4 , along with the H stamp again with a black square stamp with what looks like a # , but it's smudged . Also on top of the body under the pick guard there is the # ^430 in black , any info would be appreciated , just curious if the neck is correct with the body , thanks flynfish

    Everything seems normal for 69. Here's some 69 neck pockets to compare and a number that looks like yours found on a 69 body…

    Yes , when I got the guitar I immediately noticed that the pick guard had shrunk, it was really tight around the neck pick up, when I turned it over it had a perloid back , I guess this was common in late sixtys teles .

    I know this is an old thread but I recently took my 69 Tele apart and had some similar markings that left me confused. Also have the plain white PG with a white pearloid underneath which is pretty cool I think. Looks a lot like the OP's Tele. I found some information on the neck heel stamp but can't figure out what (if any) meaning the neck pocket stamps and markings have.

    Thats the same number thats on my neck. Supposedly what we have is a very early 1970 neck january. With a left over 1969 body and pickguard etc. Ive done research. Its alittle vague. Fender changed the number system briefly. Some points went to two systems for a brief period. No body knows why or positively for sure what the numbers mean at least so far. Some speculation is thrown in. Fender USA is not sure. Maybe someday. I have a older tread on the pre 1974 tele treads maybe six months ago. You can take a look at some of the thoughts of the members

    Thanks! I appreciate the response, I'd love to see some pics of your Tele.

    It's hard to say for sure with these. The information I found yesterday made me think the neck was from January of 67. A guy named Greg Gagliano (20th Century Guitars) has some seemingly great comprehensive information posted online, here's a piece of it:

    Let’s practice that again okay? Here’s our P-Bass again (s/n 277983) with the code 529129B.

    Breaking up the code we get:

    5 = code for Precision Bass

    291 = batch or lot code?

    2 = February

    9 = 1969

    B = 1 5/8 inch neck width (correct for a ’69 P-Bass).

    The pots also seem to point to earlier as they are 137 (CTS), 6634, and 6636, which they say means 34th and 36th weeks of 1966.

    I've seen the same "H" (or is it an "I"?) stamp in the neck pocket of a 1964 Telecaster. No idea what it means, although I would guess it's an inspection mark of some type.
