harriswho, terrific job on the beautiful neck! Impressed and inspired.
funny thing about my "back of neck" sand-thru. it made an almost perfect oval that looked like it was put there on purpose. and then that gave me the idea that i should be carving indents into my necks at maybe the 5th and 8th frets to help me position my hands correctly without having to look down at my neck so much
That "look down at my neck" reminded me that I have yet to make side dots but now after the profiling I won't go there. Don't think I need them anyway. Perhaps the next one will only have side dots and no inlays on the fretboard at all.
not sure if that request was directed at me. if so, here's link to last build...
ive done the side dot thing several times. ez to forget!
also super ez to put them in after the fact. drill, glue abs rod in. shave with razor. voila!
That is a killer built. Amazing skill. Speechless. Separating the pro from the amateur.
I got a nice present for my cousin after I told him that I'm making my first guitar. It's two huge trunks of poplar. I suppose it will take a couple of years to dry naturally but they will make some great guitars in the future.
