So I wanted a Tele... decided to assemble my own.

Had the body cut to vintage spec, walnut back with flame walnut top, Tung Oil Finish.

Allparts flame maple neck with satin finish... super surprised with the quality of this neck, really amazing.

Don't usually like Gold hardware but it this case it just felt right :) The bridge is Gotoh with no lip and compensated Ti saddles (a decision i came too after much reading on this forum)

hand wound in USA pickups to vintage spec (Sullivan.. amazing.)
    "Greasebucket" wiring = clarity

no plastic anywhere, knobs are water buffalo horn... cavity cover and pickup ring are flame maple.

Zero Glide Nut... some hate these, I found it to be excellent... I also cut and slotted my own nut but the zero glide was an experiment and it worked out very well, so it stays on for now.

I spend a lot of time on fretwork and setup, the thing plays better than any guitar in my collection. A friend of mine who plays Tele's exclusive was so impressed he commissioned me to build him 1 next year, very cool :) It was an amazingly fun project and the total cost a smidge over $800 I think the value is excellent for an instrument of this quality.

Thanks to this forum for the wealth of archived information to help me make better decisions!

Thanks! I couldn't bring myself to put a pickguard on this (especially a plastic one) and cover the walnut, so went with a ring and think it fits pretty nice.

    Nice work! Very pretty guitar.
Gold usually doesn't do it for me either, but it really works there.

I like how you contrasted the darker walnut body with the lighter accent wood/gold hardware. It reminds me of a Walnut Ibanez bass that I used to own. Beautiful!

I love the color contrast. The pickup ring sets it up nicely.

What did you do to the neck to get it that darkness?

Did the flame maple come that dark (I love it), or did you add something?

Now you just need brass/gold screws for the pups and switch.

    I know--I'm anal.

Very pretty - a bargain at $800 - is that neck roasted or just oiled? (or both?)

    What does she weigh?

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Its just roasted maple, came from Allparts like that with the satin finish. Looks better in person tbh :)

Just roasted, no oil on the neck.

The body was 5.6Lbs I think, total weight appears to be about 7.2Lbs

now just need a name for her :) "wally" just doesn't fit

    I really like it too.

I'm also one of those that doesn't usually like gold hardware - but it complements that guitar perfectly!

    Very nice.

Gorgeous. I would call her Ella (Fitzgerald ) because she's beautiful and I bet she can sing!

Looking good. I love walnut although I heard it can be hard to work with.

Really GORGEOUS guitar!!! But yes, you simply MUST find gold SCREWS....the guitar looks unfinished without em'! IMHO that is....
