My 1965 Tele arrived. I am concerned

i was told the bridge pup, tuners, and paint were the only things not original to the guitar. I see a note in the non original case saying " consider changing pots, pups and hardware non original." How much of this guitar is legit? The headstock logo original? Neck pickup? They didn't inform me extra holes were drilled for the newer tuners. Ugh. Is it worth $3000?

They didn't even put new strings on it.

That body is original? The wear doesn't match the neck.

And man, very crappy job on those tuners.

3k ain't ridulous at all for real 1965.

It's ridiculous to ME because I'm not into vintage.

Looks pretty funny (poor work- undisclosed issues- re-fin-what else), is that necks with what looks like the wrong decal- worth $3000)?

The decal is freaking me out too. Did they even use water slides in 1965?

I have no idea what a 50-year-old headstock is supposed to look like, but I don't recall ever seeing that foggy, cloudy look.

The decal is so radically different in color from its surroundings it looks like it was put on later.

It would actually be a pretty good deal (according to current markets) if the hardware, pickups, and plate and controls were original like implied. Another 12-1800 for double line klusen, bridge pup and a body trip to Fender for a period correct finish....it had potential to be a player and good investment as well. I haven't seen a neck pup from then for sale at all... I really wanted to hear that vintage Tele sound with my Vox ac15.

Even the date paint on the butt of the neck looks newer to me. It's too black for a 52 year old neck. The logo looks non-original.

Sadly, I am thinking I agree. That's what has scared friends of mine from buying online. I have been lucky up until now. I really wanted a pretty nice mostly original 64-65. I guess I'll have to save a bit more and take a chance again. Or just get another mid 90s Tele Plus like my first one and modify it. I loved that guitar

Neck might be real 1965, but modified quite a bit.
Body is impossible to tell, looks like an amateur repaint.
    Other hardware not genuine.
3K seems pretty high for that package.

And again, I'm still hung up on that body finish as well.

I pray, seriously I'm praying although I'm not a religious man...

That the seller didn't claim the body was refinished and you bought it via this claim.

No one buys a refinished 50-year-old body.

You might have been seriously ripped off.

Awful that they removed the elegant original Kluson split-shaft tuners in order to drill new holes so that they could fit the cheesy modern Fender-branded tuners in the headstock.

    Terrible.

For 3K you got a neck and maybe a body from a 65 Tele. Your body looks refinished and I suspect everything I have seen from the photos. Best of luck.

I'm not an expert by a long shot, but the tuners are crooked and the decal looks like it's been placed or replaced. Not sure if it's just the paint, but the string ferrules look crooked to me.

I'm guessing this isn't gonna end well.

That rectangular mark in the paint under the guard suggests the body may have had a swimming pool rout at one time, but difficult to tell with photos on a computer. The guard isn't right. It should have a notch where the truss rod nut is. I fear that there are more questions than answers.
