Hey so I'm in the market for a really great sounding analog delay. I have heard good things about the MXR Carbon Copy but really haven't heard a whole lot about the EH Memory Toy. Anybody have any experience with either one? Feel free to through in a different pedal that you think would be a better choice.

I think this post is in the wrong place..... But with that being said. I have the MXR and its a very good delay. Lots of sounds to choose from. I dont know anything about the other one tho.

I've got the Carbon Copy and it is a phenomenal delay. Very warm and organic. For mellow, subtle delay, I'd recommend the Carbon Copy over just about anything. If you need it to do crazy party tricks though, the MXR is not your huckleberry. Just not what it does. I don't know what the Memory Toy can do, but I like the Boss DD-3 for the over-the-top stuff.

As Voodoochild501 mentioned, there is a sub-forum here on the TDPRI called "The Stomp Box" which is dedicated to effects. I think you might get more responses if you posted there.

I've got the MXR Carbon Copy too, and I believe it's outstanding, simply the best analog delay around. You can also simulate a tape delay with the built in Modulation.

    Great and highly recommended!

I don't know the EV Memory Toy Nano though....

    regards

Never tried a Carbon Copy or a Memory Toy. But the Memory Boy works for me. Check out demos of all these pedals on the YouTube and Proguitarshop.com

Don't know anything about the Memory Toy, but my MXR CC sounds absolutely beautiful! Get it and you won't be disappointed. But like VB said, it won't do the crazy, over the top stuff if that's what you want.

Had a Carbon Copy for 2 years, great pedal as previously mentioned, very warm and organic sounding analog delay. Owned the Memory Toy for 23 hours, one of the worst pedals I've ever had the experience with. First one didn't work out of the box, second one just sounded very thin sounding. Needless to say, it went right back to GC.

I've had a Memory Toy since they first came out. I've always liked it (enough that I don't feel the need to trade it for anything else).

    I'm another Carbon Copy user.

I love it, and even if it wasnt for the mellow organice delays it produces (as mentioned by one or two people above!) I'd get it for the way you can get it to go into a really wacky feedback mode where is goes all synthy, hard to explain!

    Just buy one!!!

i've got the memory boy on my board - it suits me fine. i will say that i don't really know what i am doing with it so i am not qualified to say it's a great pedal - but it sounds fine to my ears and can do a wide range.
I will add that my slide player has a CC and he swears by it - think's it sounds the best. I trust his ears.

I have the memory boy and the CC right next to each other.

Use the CC for more slapback type settings and the Memory Boy for freaky long, deep delays with heavy modulation in there

Put them together and they sound really trippy. Fun stuff.

I have a Memory Toy. I like it but it does seem to add a bit of boost to my signal. Either that or it just brightens up everything so it sounds like a boost.

The Memory Toy will self-oscillate if you're into that and it does a good slapback sound.

I've got the Carbon Copy and love it! Never tried the Memory Toy either. I just add a TC Electronic Flashback for everything else digital under the sun, now I play with them both on at the same time. I'm going for a nice ambient sound. If I only had one pedal, I would stay with the Carbon Copy though.

Thanks guys. Looks like I definitely can't go wrong with the CC. Next time I'll post in the right place...promise.

That's one thing for sure if you don't need that super long delay times...

Had both, and I feel, that CC is way better, then Memory toy. Because memory toys sounds... Like a toy, where CC sounds like a real thing, IMHO.

I have a load of pedals. Just got the Carbon Copy and it's become one of my all-time faves. Definitely my best echo pedal, hands down.

I would stay away from the Memory Toy.

Yup. Just tried the memory toy today. Really not impressed, and the modulation just makes it sound out of tune.
