There are a finite number of chord progressions. You cannot claim a progression. And you cannot claim a rhythm. Only melody and lyrics.

Why do you think all those rock and roll songs sound the same?

Why do you think I experiment with eastern modalities?
Before Bach, we had more notes.
Derrick Trucks hits those tones all the time.

Man I don’t know. Plagiarism is not a good thing, but there is a lot of originality available within the confines of common chord progressions. If you copy, you know it.

    This is crap.

Faith Hill's real crime is her soulless destation of "Piece of my Heart".

I do have to admit that Pink did a great job on her version.

I never heard of either song. But I just Youtubed them. Hate to say it, but I think the guy has a point.

I won't get into the plagiarism debate but I have rarely heard an original song re-recorded that sounds better than the original. "Stand By Me" by John Lennon is a good remake but that's just one person's opinion.
If I had been JJ Cale I would've been after Clapton and Lynyrd Skynyrd for royalties.
Am I correct that music purchased off the internet mostly profits the writers now? Please help if you know the answer.

As I understand it, it's the large record companies that profit the most. The writers get some, the artists get less. But the corporates, with the lawyers...

Why does Spotify look so attractive despite losing hundreds of millions each year?
