I find that the solo in "The End" in the Beatles last recording and the solo in Moonage Daydream to be underrated (Moonage Daydream solo is known, but still doesn't get enough praise in my opinion). What solo do you think doesn't get its due recognition?

I dont know if its under-rated, but this thing on a Lyle Lovett version of Friend of the Devil is almost sublime.

its short, to the point, and says a lot in just a few seconds. There is wisdom in there somewhere.

skip to about 2:50 if you just wanna hear the solo

The Beatles, the Night Before. Dicky Betts on Blues Sky. Not that its underrated per se, but you don't hear it mentioned up with the best of them as often as I think you should.

'Recognition' is probably a function of a generation-coming of age thing. I see that it's either gonna be a mixture of minimal anti-solos and obscure artists/songs. But in the spirit of this thread--

I've always been a huge fan of Gilmour for his melodic style.

His solo on Mother while very simple, has always been a favorite of mine.

Mike McCready's solo in Yellow Ledbetter. Much fewer notes, but sublime.

Any solo that can sum itself up in less notes.
Overlooked , because they are not 'epic'.

I really like Steve Lukather's work on Toto's Hydra and the solo on White sister has got to be one of my favorites. The Toto album Hydra is probably one of the most underrated albums of all time IMHO.

"Colorado Song" by The Ozark Mountain Daredevils. Eerily delightful. Solo at 2:00 or so.

While I love SP, I find Billy is rated well, and maybe a tad overrated...due to himself mostly...:D

He is a nutball and ego-maniac for sure, and anything after Pisces is hit or miss at best, for me. But man, Gish and Siamese Dream, and about 3/4 of Pisces Iscariot = perfection.

Not sure if it is the "most underrated", but David Gilmour's solo in "The final cut" (from "the Final cut" album) is one of his best and less rated in my opinion. It seems to me that he put in that and the other solos of that album all the anger and the frustration he was facing with Waters. Very interesting from that album, "not now John" as well.
