Modest Mouse Guitar Effect

    I've been listening to The Modest Mouse song: "The View" from the album Good News for People Who Love Bad News (for those that aren't fans, great song and album). In the chorus the guitar/synth plays a "stuttering" line in the background. The part seems to be synched to the beat (16th notes), but I can't find anything that sounds quite like that. Any thoughts?

    I know Issac Brock has been known to be secretive about the effects he uses on records. But I was thinking it could be a sampled sound, considering they used a mellotron in other parts of the album.

    Sounds like tremelo to me, but I could be wrong.
