Just finished working on this Harley Benton TE-90FLT. It arrived in quite a state, poor thing, but after a small discount from Thomann it was worth keeping for the one-piece body and surprisingly good 'Roswell' (who?) filtertron-style pickups.

I had to repair some manufacturing boo-boos: a badly positioned nut, rough edges in the pickup cavities, sloppy fret work. Then I fitted a half bridge & Bigsby B50, made a nice pickguard, and scrubbed the vintage lacquer off the headstock then brought it back to clear satin with a custom logo.

Pleased with the end result, she looks quite pretty and plays great considering it worked out at £290 all-in, including a B50. Scratches my Cabronita itch nicely for the moment ;)

True, nothing polarises people better than a reverse headstock.

I went full circle. First I liked the reverse headstock because it's different. Then I hated it because reverse headstock. Now I like it because it's different and has my fake brand on it :D

    Neat!

And some say the reverse headstock keeps the bass strings tighter, and vice versa.

Wrong as it looks aesthetically, a reverse headstock makes more sense functionally. The bass end gets more tension on the strings and the high strings are easier to bend. There was a time when manufacturers put 'compensated' tailpieces on archtop guitars to achieve this effect. Three a side headstocks can use 'heavy bottom' string set to achieve the same effect. I always use 'heavy bottom' string sets on my Fender guitars or the bass strings flap too much.

Your brand isn't fake....you made it, call it what you like, I dig it.

... and you stripped the finish?

    That body looks good.

Much as I'd love to  I cannot take credit for the finish. That's original. Although from comments I've received from other TE-90 owners who say their guitars have two/three piece bodies and a less pleasant chalky-white finish, it seems I got lucky.

    Very nice. Good job.

The only thing I don't like about the reverse headstock is that it reminds me of rob chapman. It looks great like it's supposed to be that way. But... chapman

Do you mind posting a pic of the bottom edge?

Not sure what edge you mean exactly  but here are a few shots from various angles.

That's the one. I was hoping I could see the wood grain here like we can only the sides. Nice looking guitar by the way. Regardless who made it, never mind the cost. That's a quality finish.

I want one, but I just got a gorgeous HB TE-70 Paisley and a really nice Monoprice solid spruce top acoustic.

Hard to justify a new one, as I didn't really need the last two... depending on how you define the word "need".

Thoman ship worldwide, as long as there is no rosewood in the guitar. The Cab-type is rosewood free.
