I have fun watching old movies and spotting future stars in smaller roles..
I watched this one and was sure Micky Rooney was the kid playing the part of a cop that was killed..
He was billed as Micky Mc/quire, but no doubt about it, so I did a search..

There is a biography on him that was very good. I can't remember the name but got it at my local library. His first trip to Hollywood from St Louis took over a month at a top speed of 10-11 miles per hour on country roads. He was married to some really beautiful women.

Yes it is..I sometimes watch the silent movies also..
I spotted MRs body language early on and then his voice..
I kept trying to see a close up and finely recognized his mouth and teeth..

Huntington Beach Oil Derrick in the beginning. There were thousands of them back then all along the coast. You can really tell it is him when he's on the bike. I'd take either of those bikes. The quality of that film is very good. Thanks for posting.

I read that he started in vaudeville with his parents when he was 17 months old..

I dunno about Mickey but Grandma reminds me of mine. She was all Irish top to bottom and a great cook.

Mickey Rooney was great. The other day I was thinking about the end of "The Bridges at Toko Ri" (Korean war movie starring William Holden). It might not have been his best all time role or performance for all I know but it comes back to me now and then like other film scenes that have made a forever impression. As an aside "Bridges" has some great aviation action scenes considering when it was made.

Pretty good drummer too. Although he seems to rush pretty consistently.

The first film I saw him in was Boys Town. Great stuff! The full movie's on Youtube; I think I'll watch it later.
