One of my favorite music-related podcasts is Sound Opinions. I was listening to the broadcast with Mavis Staples and learned so much about Pops Staples and the early days. Great stuff

Dang!, won't play on my computer.

I fell in love with the music of Pops, Mavis and the Staple Singers the instant I saw them as part of The Last Waltz. The more I delved, the more I listened, the more I fell under their mesmeric spell. They can 'Take Me There'

I haven't seen her (or Rick) in about 5 years.

I need to get after it. Just a great experience, always.

She also just did a long form (hour or so usually) on WTF w/ Marc Maron though I’m always scared to listen to his interviews with musicians so I haven’t listed to hers yet.

He’s a good guitar player himself and a big music fan but I usually come away from his interviews with musicians lacking .

I wish he knew as much about music as he does the history of comedy and comics in general .

So - I’ll listen to his first and then DeRogatis after . Probably not good to do it the other way around.

I listened to it this morning during my commute and it's worth it. I get your criticism, but in this case he's not too distracting...listening to her stories in the interview is amazing.
