"Won't Give In" by the Finn Brothers...

one they put together outside of their Split Enz and Crowded House days. It may be the best piece of music Neil Finn ever penned, and that's saying a great deal.

Could bust a finger here, pushing the Like button so many times. So I haven't. Thanks, all, for sharing the soulfulness.

But I did finally rig up a good-enough turn-table through good-enough speakers, after a decade+ haitus from analog.

And, my God..."Blood On The Tracks." All those well-worn pops and crackles just adding to it. I've deliberately developed a lot of emotional calluses about letting myself remember how I felt about Someone now long and good-and gone. But, damn, the instrumental close of "If You See Her, Say Hello." That damn mandolin...sounds like nerves of memory itself. That friend's-shoulder bass of "Shelter From the Storm." While the winter wind howls outside, and the (okay, our) kids are safe in sleep.

In such lush, warm, present sound, once again.

Got a Bigsby on time, tonight!

    I love Jann Arden!
I saw her at Vanier Hall in Prince George, BC touring to support this album.
    She is so funny too!
    Killer band.
What a voice, what a song writer!
My sister and I do her version of To Sir With Love in our duo, One Lane Bridge.

When as a working musician most your time is on the road. Then my wife gave birth to our son but it didn't alter my lifestyle I still had to travel to earn a crust. It never occurred to me that I might've neglected my son back in those days until I heard Jamey Johnsons' "The Dollar" and boy did that hit home hard.. S :rolleyes:

Visited NYC (and the USA) for the first time in my life earlier in October this year. Kind of a life-changing experience for me, and that song encapsulated the feel and mood of the trip. Still gets me every time, and I'm totally planning another trip when I can justify it!

That's easy for me with a sister who is a Christian and very talented songwriter. She wrote a song called 'Mary's Child' that is remarkable and alters one's view of Jesus as a baby. And I know both of us have very good songwriting talent. Richard Leigh told me so when we met 2 different years at his songwriting seminar. He wrote the early Crystal Gayle hits and Reba's hit about ' The Greatest Man I Never Knew ' .
