My first build of any guitar type actually. I don't have the woodworking skills to tackle a build from scratch, but the endless Facebook ads for kit guitars proved too much to resist. And I've always wanted a Thinline Tele that I've never been able to afford, so....

After a lot of researching and reading I took the plunge about a month ago and bought a Thinline Tele kit from Guitar Kit Fabric for £130 (roughly $190). From start to finish took me about 3 weeks and I'm delighted with the result, particularly for my first attempt. I've changed a few parts and added a Bigsby-esque tremolo but have to say the kit quality was mostly pretty good.

Only problem is I'm now hooked and planning my next build. I think it'll be a Harley Benton solid body Tele from Thomann using only the parts supplied to see what £70 really can buy.

I've posted a couple of Youtube videos about the build if anybody's bored enough to watch them!

Cool looking guitar. What did you use for paint?

Thanks guys! The paint colour is Breeze Blue. It's from Vauxhall cars sold here in the UK. The same colour may be available through GM in the US. It also has some Rustoleum glitter lacquer to make it pop a little more than a standard metallic. Then a lot of clearcoat to make it shine. It still needs a final polish but wanted to leave plenty curing time. I'm currently working on a case that matches the budget build of the guitar.

It looks like three different blues in the pictures. that paint must have some range.

I think blue and white pearl is my favorite combo.

That is a great looking guitar (or three). Is that a rattlecan finish?
