A guy contacted me earlier this year and wanted to commission a guitar as a gift for his best man. The wedding was scheduled for October 2018. He ordered it and paid in full. Well, he texted me about a month ago and asked if I could possibly have it done sooner. "When?", I asked "January?", he said Since I've got a 2-year waiting list on commissioned builds, I told him there's just no way. Well, I always enjoy a challenge, so I'm going to see if I can actually get it done. - mahogany thinline body with a walnut top - maple neck - macasser ebony fretboard - dual F holes - firebird pickups - best man's last name inlaid in the upper horn in a dark wood (I'll use katalox) The mahogany I started with was rough sawn at 2" thick and had a substantial cup to it. Luckily I've now got a drum sander, so I was able to get it dimensioned just fine and glued up. Here's the walnut top I'll be using this flamed maple for the neck.
