Here's how Luther picks "I Still Miss Someone" from the live at Folsom album.

    -------------------------------------------------------
    -------------------------------------------------------
    -------------------------------------------------------
    --------0-0-------------------------------------------
    -0-2-4------4---0-------------------------------------
    ---------------0---------------------------------------

The numerous studio versions variate a little bit at the end of the lick, but you'll catch on. ;)

I Was There When It Happened

    ------------------------2------------------------------
    -----------------------0-------------------------------
    ----------------------2-----------2--------------------
    --------2---2-------1-------2---2---2-----------------
    -2-2-4-------0-1-2--------2---0---2------------------
    ----------0---------------0--------0------------------

I tabbed out the chords for this one.

Once again, your ear will catch on. ;)

    Awesome cover...

I know this isn't tabs, or even instructional, but I'm in the process of learning to play Perkins stuff, and learning to play, in general. But I wanted to post this for any Cash fan. This is the coolest cover of Folsom I've ever seen. This is what I aspire to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdlI3y-Iv58

Hey Lerb21, looks like you are quite knowledgable on luther's picking? I am practicing his licks using my Martin D-28 but hope to soon buy me a Telecaster. Can you tab out for me his licks for "Doin My Time"? Thanks for the help.

Somebody on another thread was asking about favorite artist specific tab sites, I think maybe this thread is my favorite. How can I save this to pull it up any time with out having to search for it?

You ask and you shall receive...

    Code:
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    ---------------------------------------------*-------------*------
    -*--------------*-------------*------------2-------------2--------
    --------------2-------------2----4-4-4-4-0-----4-4-4-4-0----------
    ----4-4-4-4-0-----4-4-4-4-0---------------------------------------

    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    -------------*-------------*-------------------------------------
    -----------2-------------2---------------------------------------
    -4-4-4-4-0-----4-4-4-4-0-----2-2-2-2-2-3-3-3-3-3-4-4-4-4-4-3-2-0-

Just so you know, those little *'s indicate to strum whatever chord you're on. Here's a video so you can get a feel of what Luther's doing.

Here's two lessons I made recently, one for Folsom Prison Blues and one for Get Rhythm. You'll notice I plagiarized Terry Downs' camera angle, so please don't sue me Terry!

    There's a couple ways:

Here's how Luther played it in the original 56 recording:

    Code:
    ---------------
    ---------------
    ---1----1------
    ---2----2------
    -----2---------
    -0-------------

    Rinse and Repeat:

Then here's how Luther did it later:

    Code:
    -------------
    -------------
    ---1---1-1---
    ---2---2-2---
    -----2-------
    -0-----------
    (The 2nd 1,2 on the G and D strings is an upstroke. It's counted 1 and 2 e and)

During the Live at Folsom Prison Concert Luther did (something) like this:

    Code:
    -------------
    -------------
    -------------
    ---2---2-2---
    -----2-------
    -0-----------
(Same rhythm as the previous one).

Bob Wootton does it like this:

    Code:
    -----------
    -----------
    -----------
    ---2---2---
    -----2-----
    -0---------

Here's the intro to Home of the Blues (as best as I can remember it). At least this is how I play.

    Code:
    -7-5-4-2-0----------------------------
    -----------3-2-0----------------------
    -----------------2-1------------------
    ---------------------4-2-0------------
    ---------------------------4-2-0------
    ---------------------------------4-2-0
Luther throws in a 'blue' note in three somewhere, and I play it as the 3 on the b string.

Here's Wreck of the Ol' 97 to the best of my memory.

    Code:
    -------------------------------------------------
    -------------------------------------------------
    --------------------------------2----------------
    -----2-2-2----------0-0-0-0-0-4---4-2-2-2-2-4----
    -2-4-------2-0--2-4------------------------------
    -------------------------------------------------

    -------------------------------------------------
    -------------------------------------------------
    -2-4-2-1-----2-2-2-2-2------------------2--------
    ---------2-4----------------0-0-0-0-0-4---4------
    ----------------------0-2-4----------------------
    -------------------------------------------------

    ---------------------------
    ---------------------------
    ---------------------------
    -2-2-2-2---0---------------
    ---------4---4-2-0-4-2-0---
    ---------------------------

Thanks man. I've learned a ton on just this one thread. You're the greatest. :)

Hey, I know this is a little after Luther passed but was wondering if you has any thoughts on how Wooten played the intro and solos on Wrinkled Crinkled Wadded Dollar Bill on Johnny's "Hello I'm Johnny Cash" album. I've been playing the h* out of my copy of that song and I'm just not getting it. I guess it says something about my ability to play by ear.

I just listened to it and it ain't that easy.

    Here's what I got for the intro/solo.

I didn't show the little strumming stuff Bob does in between, I hope you can get it on your own. I did show the main melody though.

    Code:
    E...............D..........A
    --------------------------------------------------------
    --------------------------------------------------------
    --------------------------------------------------------
    -2-4-2----2-2-1-0------------2-2-----0------------------
    -----------------------0-2-4-----4-2-----2-0------------
    -------0-------------------------------4----------------

    Bob Wootton is great!

Continuing the Boom Chicka Boom idea from before, here are the 7 major chords tabbed out for the basic beat.

    Code:
    ....A........B(7).....C.........D.......E....
    ---------------------------------------------
    ---------------------------------------------
    -------------------------------2--2----------
    ---2--2-----1---1-----2--2---0---------2--2--
    -0--------2---------3-----------0-------2----
    ----0---------2--------3-------------0-------

    ....F..........G....
    --------------------
    --------------------
    --------------------
    ---3--3------0---0--
    ----3----------2----
    -1---------3--------
