I've had the joy of playing w/ Eddie Tigner for the last 10 years or so and we became close friends. We'd hang and talk after the gig, visit one another, lunches, phone calls (Eddie would greet me "hey partner").

Tried to call Eddie yesterday and it went to voice mail. Today he's beyond the coverage area.

Eddie had quite a life. Traveled the country playing in the Ink Spots for 30 years. Played w/ Elmore James, Little Richard still owes him $400 for a gig,... and Eddie's been on the stage w/ tons of the Blues greats over years. Until a few months ago we played together every Sunday night.

At 92 and a life long smoker, Eddie's passing was a foregone conclusion, still today i'm a bit numb. There's going to be a hell of a jam session tonight, Eddie still kicks ass on the piano.

'till we meet again my friend.

Deepest condolences. There are some amazing people out there who we know so little about their history. I'm glad you got to learn about his and share musical adventures together. Treasure those times.

Sorry to hear about Eddie .

Musicians are sacred - sad to see them go.

But 92 and a life long smoker ?

His passing was definitely not a forgone conclusion !

His story is one of the ones the American Cancer Society likes keep on the down low...

I am sorry for your loss. I really know how it feels to lose long time friends, the older you get the more of them you lose, until one day, those who you leave behind are talking about you! Sounds like he lived a great life, and it is really disturbing how little space it took to write about it. As has been said before. Born 1956 - Died 2019. That little line in the middle separating the numbers is your life.

That was a long life for a lifetime smoker. Speaking as a person who lost his father, three uncles, and an aunt to smoking-induced lung and esophageal cancer (all the others are still with us and doing fine - can you tell I'm from a Catholic family?), I'd say that the ACS doesn't have much to worry about. Some get lucky, and good for them for sure. The vast majority, not so much.

    RIP Eddie!

    Another piece of history gone.

Superman's wife never smoked and she died of lung cancer.

    You just never know.

I’m very sorry for your loss.
I too have the great joy of playing with many wonderful seasoned professional musicians.
Often I’m the “kid” in the bands I play in.
I’m glad y’all had a good run together, and that Mr. Tigner had a good, long musical life.
    RIP, sir!
