I’m going to see Los Lobos tonight in Kalamazoo at Bells Brewery. They are one of my bucket list bands to see live. Kind of find it hard to believe I haven’t seen them before.

I’m going with one of my oldest friends going back to junior high. Also interested to check out Bells. I haven’t been there for many years. They’re one of Michigan’s elder statesmen of microbreweries.

Anyone seen the wolves lately or going to the show?

One of my favorite all time bands. I’ve seen them 5 or 6 times, the 1st time was actually at the State Theater in... Kalamazoo. The last time was at a Casino in Phoenix. After the show, the band just kind of hung out in the room with the crowd that remained. Great musicians and great guys.

I spent a fleeting time in the beer business with in the early 90s and I met Larry Bell at a tasting event and hung out with him afterward. I don’t know if he’s still running the business but he’s a real character. Look for a guy with a Panama hat.

    Enjoy the show!

Seen them several times, once up close in a hotel lounge. Great live band and great individuals. Enjoy!

One of my favorite VHS tapes that I pull out and watch regularly is an older show of Los Lobos on Austin City Limits....not only for the guitar work, but David Hidalgo sings so much like Steve Winwood it's uncanny. And I won't forget the incredible songwriting. These guys AREN'T unrecognized in the music world, but they should be HUGE!!!!!

Awesome, one of my best memories is my best friend picking me up and driving us down to hollywood, going up to some dingy wrought iron security door of a building off a side street on sunset blvd, getting buzzed in to a court yard with a basketball court and going into another door passing a room filled with various musical instruments, and down the hall to a recording studio and watching a band just jamming away. My buddy opening a fridge filled with juice, water, and beer and we sat on the couch drinking beer and listening to the band jamming away. When they took a break my friend introduced me to the singer, this is my uncle Dave. That was the first day of the recording session that would result in the Collossal Head album. Good times

He most definitely is running the business still! He's a character for sure. When I was living in Chicago, Bells' distributor sold his contract to another distributor without his consent and he pulled his product from that market. That huge market!

I grew up in Battle Creek, so have seen a bunch of shows at the KZoo State Theater. The first show I drove to myself was the Ramones at the State with the buddy I'm going to see Los Lobos with tonight.

Shaping up to be a great weekend!

    Best band in America. Period.

I've seen them a bunch of times over the, jeez, decades, and they always bring it. One of the best shows I ever saw was at a club nearby not long after Kiko came out. The band had come east to play a private function and the club owner found out and booked them for a night. When they showed up, they told the club owner that they felt like playing and to give the opening act the night off, that they would pay the opening act. The owner said no problem and paid the opening act out of his own pocket.

They then proceeded to tear the roof off the place. They played for a couple of hours, took a break, and then came back and played all of Kiko. And then took another short break and played until pretty much closing time. They played an encore and the place was going nuts. They came out and did another encore. The place was still packed. The house lights went up and the road crew was on the stage, but nobody was leaving. They came out and played some more, finally ending with Cesar telling the crowd, That's it. We really have to go.

Just a phenomenal show. And just to mention it, tickets were only 10 bucks.

P.S. - And yes, I concur, Bell's makes some fine brew.

Just saw them last month. They still got it. Best rock n roll show I've seen in a long time.

America's greatest existing rock band. Not too many others whom I've seen 12+ times and have NEVER been a disappointment. Their shunning by the Rock HOF is one more reason I can't stand that place.
