That is the intent.
You got it. Just now looking out the living room towards our big mountain:
I “liked” your photo because it’s pretty. OTOH I want no part of that weather.
It’s 80 F and sunny here; might walk across the street and go to the beach....
First year I was in Montana (1972) the high for the month of December was one degree, and it got up to one degree on one day. The cold night, we set a record for the lower 48 that still stands, 76 below, at Rogers Pass between here & Great Falls. Keeps the riff-raff out! I'll be grilling a steak in my Sorels this evening.
Thanks KC. Yup, one of my neighbors had just moved here in 1971 and were living in a mobile home. They talk about the frost up to the bottom of the windows ... on the inside walls with the woodstove cranked for close to a month.
Even in SoCal we have forecast of heavy winds and some rain coming. Monday a daytime high of 56 degrees. But winds that drop the temp is not fun. Of course once it passes us it heads to the midwest. Hope for safe times. You guys above the Mason-Dixon line be careful out there.
Yep, it's baton down the hatches time here as well in eastern Wa. Been watching the predicted highs/lows continue to drop. I live in the middle of a snow belt north of the Spokane area and we're looking at a lot more of the white stuff coming for the next few days with the lows in the sub zero territory. Funny thing was the Spokane area to the south of us set a record high of 56 just a week ago or so. Many of the customers I talked to at work were predicting the end of winter for the year but mother nature just laughed and reminded everyone who's boss..
How long's that supposed to last when it's so cold?
With weather like this I'm more partial to homemade chili and sourdough bread, with a J.Beam chaser..
Yup. I screwed up and didn't thaw out the chicken, but plan on cooking jambalaya tomorrow and beans and ham on Monday. Then we will be past the snow and below 0F for a few days. Lots of coffee, wine and Maker's Mark are in the plans while recording some originals.
3" on the deck and up to 27F, so getting to heavy snow temps.
Been very odd in the Mid Atlantic, earlier this week was almost 70, tonight we should get some measurable snow; been VERY light the last few years, my old Burton is wondering whats going on, I don't think this will be enough to bust it out though.
4" so far (looks like that little tree that was bent over this morning is going down):
Yeah, I've got that lazy tree syndrome going
Likely to visit me on the way to picking up steam over the plains.
No snow on the plain, but plenty of rain showers in the area. The wind is finally tapering off some, too. Now its only gusting to 30mph instead of 60-70 like it was doing all night.
Nearly 40 degrees here, and still a couple of hour till sun up.
We have about 7" from overnight snow storm - Tuesday and Wednesday will be 65* F - typical New England weather.
