Looking for recommendations for a luthier to do a refret on 1972 Thinline maple neck

Anyone have experience with a luthier they can recommend?

    Thanks
    Steve

I’m in Northwest Iowa - willing to ship neck but
I’d rather not ship entire guitar if I don’t have to

    Any other recommendations?
Joe Glaser will not do it unless I bring guitar. That’s not possible as I am in NW Iowa. Job, budget etc prohibit me from driving the guitar to Tennessee and then going back to get it.

No response at all from Dan Erlwwine.

    Anybody??

Look for luthiers in Iowa? I did a search near me and found one. See who is near you. Get a comfort level of those near you.

...worth asking whoever you are enquiring from how they propose getting the frets out.....its now well know that they should be slid out sideways as they were installed that way and the board can be badly damaged if they are lifted.......if they are not doing some version of that, stay well clear....
How badly worn are they?....if you could get away with a fret dress......!

    Good to know!

Sadly I’ve still not found anyone to do the refret for me.

I had my '63 Tele done by Danny Shoemaker at Straight Frets, also did a Plek job on it.

But..... in Austin, TX. Not cheap, but he did a great job and was highly professional to deal with.

    www.straightfrets.com

FWIW, he does have info on his web site about shipping to Texas.

    Cheers,
    Doug

    Thanks Doug

Sadly I’ve previously tried contacting Danny via email and phone message with no reply to either.

He was actually the first place I reached out to after finding his web site. When I couldnot get a reply I started this post on TDPRI

I send all my fretwork to Big John in Denton, Texas. Check out his page at www.bigjohnsguitars.com
    Good luck on your project,

You can also try Wooden Wizard in Lorton, VA - just outside Washington DC. He did a great job on a Gibson headstock break for me and I know he's worked on some high profile players' Fenders.

    I took mine to Elderly.

They did excellent work. It was not inexpensive, but hopefully good for another 47 years.
