    Looking for inspiration for my latest esquire build and want to do something that's either a natural, or stripped back to natural and completely worn... so let's see 'em!

    I'll start it off. Here's my leading inspiration right now...

    What would be the best way to get this look for the finish? Maybe Watco Danish Oil in light or medium walnut?

    I think you have the right idea. If it was my project I'd test it on a small spot under the pickguard just to confirm the color.

    Hey Vic looks nice. Did you do anything over the shellac of just clear shallac and thats it? Also how many coats you have on there and how long did you let it cure before you were able to handle it and put it all together?

    Thanks
    Joe

    it's just shellac... on both the body and the neck. for the answers to the rest of your questions, you'll have to ask the man what built it, Rick Kelly at Carmine Street Guitars.

    the only thing i'm skilled at is emptying my wallet.

    Thanks Vic;

    I am in the middle of a project right now using shellac on a Tele and it seems like it is taking forever to cure...

    Rick hangs his bodies and necks for a long time, i know that.

    is it old? i think shellac can expire pretty quickly. did you buy the flakes and mix it into a liquid?

    George Lynch. I've seen very few vids of him playing a Tele, but am gonna go snoop youtube to see if there's any footage of this. If you like the rock & roll, he can certainly play a guit.

    *Hoping to post a vid, I looked youtube over & most of the vids of him playing a Tele are of such awful quality I don't think it would seem fair. The comments of him playing the Esquire are amusing. Seems the rock & roll types aren't hip to Teles. Good. Leaves more for us.

    I had my dad built this for me and he did an awesome job, as he always does whenever I come up with crazy stuff ;)
    * pine body, using golden white-wash-like paint and done in a white-wash fashion, not only can you see the grain, you can also feel it! no clear coating done.
    * squier CV 50s neck, AC3 pups and bridge
    * fender 3way switch & CTS pots with chrome dome knobs
    * electrosocket/ switchcraft output jack
    * 3-ply blackguard
    My number 1 at the moment.

    My Esquire I put together back in November. Guitar Mill pine body and Guitar Mill maple neck. The only finish I put on it was a couple of coats of Howards Feed-n-Wax. I love this guitar!

    Nice, I've never seen a "naked" Tele in the wild but this thread makes me wanna look for one.
