    I often wonder what really tips the balance (no pun intended) because apart from a G-400 i owned for the longest time, all SGs I’ve owned (2 Specials, 1 Classic, 1 Standard) have had zero neck dive whatsoever.

    One thing all of them have in common is that they use the vintage Kluson-style tuning machines. Could that be one factor?

    As said...beware SG neck dive.
    My 50s Trib KILLS.
    Chambered and light.
    I did the faux binding thing, but many years now have it from the factory, I think.
    I also polished/buffed the neck, body and headstock. Before that it just looked too low budget to me.
    It will never have neck binding.
    I'm not searching, but I suppose I would trade it for the SG that speaks to me.
