Saw them mentioned in another thread and thought, yeah, there’s a band I have a couple CDs by, but from a long time ago and I’d like to hear some more recent stuff. Not that long ago, a few months, someone started a thread asking about bands you’d like to see reunited and I mentioned Kings X. Then I went and looked. And they were touring. Oops! I don’t think they’ve played up here in forever though.

So I have Gretchen and Faith, but have to admit haven’t put either on in a while. But don’t know anything more recent and that’s a lot of years. So please post some stuff from those by all means, but more recent stuff, side projects, etc.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

"Gretchen" was a huge deal for me when it came out. Hearing "Over My Head" led me to buying the album. IMO it's a masterpiece. I never tire of it. FH&L is great too. I know they've done some reunion stuff but the glimpses I saw gave me mixed feelings. I guess I want to remember them from those great albums.

Yeah I think those two records are fantastic. Why they didn’t take hold?

I just sent a couple YouTube’s to a friend who I think should know about them but if not? I described them as Sabbath mixed with King Crimson with the Beatles. Or maybe Cheap Trick. Not sure how well that captured their thing but I hear it as heavy plus a bit of proggy tempo stuff plus the really melodic harmony vocals. Really really unique. Should be right up his alley.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

This song did more than any other to clue me in to controlling my clean-to-distorted texture by playing intensity and guitar volume.

And it really shows the unique Strat Elite/Lab Series L5 slaved through big SS power and 4 x 12 cabs tone that Ty Tabor had going on on the first three albums.

Instead of a solo, it cycles through an instrumental chord progression, turning up the playing and crunch each time through.

What are the solo/ side projects like? I don’t know about any of that stuff.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

One of the side projects is KXM: Doug Pinnick bass/vocals; George Lynch guitar and Ray Luzier drums.

Have Gretchen on as I type. Actually had to pull it out of a box. I never fully unpacked my cds after moving over a year and a half ago now. I’m liking it. A lot.

    Cheers,
    Geoff
