Aw, thanks for the fabulous story, Lonewolf.
you made my day - now I can't wait for the pic.

do you mind if I post your story over at iorr.org in the same thread mentioned above?

Nope, Mathijs is a very knowledgable guitarist and guitar collector from the Neatherlands.
even more so when it comes to Stones gear. he sometimes posts here too.

Great story, can't wait to see the pics. The closest brush I had with fame was working at the Guitar Center in Arlington, meeting Dimebag a couple of times and Vinny once (is that how you spell his name?).

Also I met Buddy Miles who was pretty large by then and he wanted to borrow my stool to sit on for a minute while they (whoever he was with) shopped. I probably talked to him for about a half hour, great guy.

And one of the wrestlers from WWF or whatever the heck it's called now, he wouldn't tell me his name, I recognized him but couldn't place his face but I think it was the Undertaker, can't be sure. Either way he was kind of a *****.

Anyway awesome story, I love hearing stuff like this. My wife is a bigger Stones fan than me, so I'll have to let her read this thread.

Well guys, as I expected, I don't have enough computer knowledge to get the pics posted. It says that my file sizes are too big, and I have no idea how to cut them down, or what would be left of the image if I did. Any ideas?

I just wanted to take a second and nominate this as one of the "TEN BEST TDPRI THREADS EVER".

What a truly enjoyable read. It started out good, and then Gene "kicked it into high gear". I can't wait to see the pics/receipt/whatever Gene wants to post !

    Thanks.

Don't hold it against him too much. These guys are supposed to keep the faith outside the ring, too, so if he was a heel at the time he stayed in character. Besides, if it WAS the Undertaker, he must have liked you. Otherwise, not knowing his name would have gotten you Tombstoned and your soul ripped from your body.

It was taken by my good friend Oscar Fernandez.
The people in the picture are (left to right):
Unknown, believed to be the kid who ran into the store announcing that "the Rolling Stones are at the liquor store", Keith Richards, Ron Wood, the Stones Roadie.

The Black Fender Custom, is laying on the counter in front of the kid, and not in it's case yet.
It appears that the one with the "blue shirt with the nipple hole cut out may have been Ron Wood, not Keith. (nope, it is Keith with the striped shirt, edit by alamo)

The original sales ticket for the black Custom reads as follows:
1 Fender Telecaster, Custom black M/N (maple neck), ser. # (serial number) 556094, $380.00, case $75.00,
    total $455.00,
less 20% discount (I was as generous as my boss would allow) $91.00, sub total $364.00,
    tax $18.2?,
    total $382.??.
