That was a great read BW.

Here was an Ebay auction I stressed over this week. I mean there has to be a million raving Joe lunatics with record players right?

It was nice to win without a fight.

Right you are. Bizarre. I'll ask the owner next time I'm in, it was him who told me -- and we even had a chat about how it had been sitting there unbought for almost 2 years. (he wasn't ecstatic)

Could it have been a custom shop demo model? (the same store brings in a lot of those ridiculous guitars just to get people in looking around, i.e. EVH Frankenstrat for $11K or whatever it was)

    I'll report back.

As for the 101ers, I own a very nice CD by them. Great sounds. :)

I've decided I need to farm out the logo piece to a place in Oakland. I have an excellent 1:1 image, but I have too many what-ifs. I'll update with the Gretsch logo when it's complete.

Here is a sneak peak of what tomorrow's gift will look like.

I ordered this case a few weeks ago from GC. I would have liked the orange to be a little more orange-y, but I love it.

In the bottom right corner is a copy of "Return of the Last Gang in Town" which Pete42 generously donated from the UK as a gift to my bro. Thanks Pete!

I'll let my brother borrow the other reference, but I have a feeling I might need it back.

I'll try to get some video tomorrow, but will definitely get pics.

And so this most awesome thread is almost closed. One for the archives! Sorry to see it go. This was the one thread I looked forward to reading when I logged on each day.

Can't wait for the follow-up Mike!

Your guitar and presentation is the best I've seen. Amazing how love motivates!

    Beautiful stuff man.

I checked with the GuitarWorks guy today about the $3,500 price tag on that JS he had, he says "I must have gotten mixed up". He's a nice guy so I take it at face value. For me it's a fitting conclusion to the head scratching. I knew that guitar wasn't worth anywhere near $3.5K the second I touched it. And life goes on... :)

I have to agree with the poster above, this was a beautiful thread -- sad to see it go despite being happy for the OP. Best gift ever. Thanks for sharing this.

No kidding about Fender. Mike's kit is EXACTLY what Fender's should be.

You did an incredible job on this. Your bro must be the luckiest man in the world. He could not have even imagined a better gift. Phaze was right, your bro has both this beautiful tele and you as a brother. Good work. :p

everything is the same except...they didnt paint the pick guard...they reliced the body and neck...they reliced the hardware

the ignore alien order sticker plus others are there...the stencil is there

only thing missing are the rasta stripes

its not about how it looks but how it plays...mine plays great...even if i dont lol
