Man, that looks killer, Rog. Looks like timing is working out, too.
Another beautiful build! Subscribed!
Nice Roger. I like the way this is coming better than the original idea you posted. That'll be a pretty body with a little burst.
Thanks, Rick. Yeah, after this weekend's work, I'm feeling more comfortable with things.
Thanks, nosmo. I'm digging this one myself. The only thing I worry about is that there's no obvious tie-in to Needtobreathe at all, other than the fact that Bo designed it. My previous ones were all inspired by their music, so I'm curious to see how this one does at the auction.
Got the final color and clear coats sprayed on Saturday. I'll let it cure for a week or so, then I'll start the tedious sanding process. First I'll need to level the lacquer, then it's on to final sanding. I'll be doing this one in a matte rather than gloss finish. I also have to start applying finish to the pickguard as well.
Looking good Roger
gonna be a jewel!
Roger, I think since it is going to charity and is a N2B piece you need to add a little N2B to it.
Maybe a little decal under the bigsby? "Bigsby Burn" in hot pink or the dark brown for the latest album and a little twist on the build.
You could also put a "N2B" in that pick guard. Although a sticker will probably peel off later but that would be OK for the future owner.
I also thought you might put a little sticker under the Bigsby of Bo's big white flat brimmed hat. The strings would not mask it too badly and it would stay untouched.
Just some ideas, I am a fan of their work as well as yours!
I just about have this one finished up and plan to ship it out next week. I need a good, sturdy case to ship it in, so I'm thinking a molded plastic with TSA locks. Anyone know for sure which Gator or SKB cases will fit a JM with a Bigsby?
Roger, I have an SKB case for jags/jazzies and it's an amazing case, but I'd be surprised if you could comfortably fit a bigsby in there. I took a few pics to give you a better idea. There does seem to be a bit of room in there, but I'm not sure. If you told me how much clearance you need I could try to figure out if this case would work and send you a link.
Let’s hear it Rog!
Cool, thanks! I'll get some measurements when I get home tonight.
It's not quite ready just yet. I did some preliminary noodling on it last night and was very pleased, though, especially when I cranked the reverb and busted out some Wipeout and Pipeline .
Pictures! Pictures! Pictures!
Looks like I need another 1.25" above the body.
I'll get some beauty shots this weekend
I know, I know
Ahem.... again... lol
My best measuring makes it look like there is just over an inch of clearance in the case I have. Call it 1.125" so I couldn't say that it'd work for sure without pressing the bigsby down the whole time it's in the case.
I would like to add;
Here are some of the beauty shots from today.
That looks fantastic Roger!!
That is awesome, I am in awe at some of the talent on this site.
This is a beautiful guitar!
