One thing one should know about my design over some of my competitors' versions that ride over pipes, is that this version stays perpendicular to the fretboard. The pipe designs can twist and rack, which (A) makes it harder to control, and (B) can leave irregularities on the fretboard, since the racking changes the height of the cutter. Those little retainers on the side are quite useful.

Neck Carving Jig Puck Files for the Bill Scheltema neck jig:

Untested. I just had to spend the time trying to find these... So i thought I'd post em again to keep easy to find.

Always test before cutting into nice wood!

    Best,

Thanks! It's just my take on something I found through a google search.
I didn't use any fancy methods for making the arc - if I remembered it right, I just drew a 10" radius (but i should have made it a little bigger) arc in Photoshop, printed it out on paper, then just transfered it to MDF and sanded to the line. A pencil on a 10" stick would work fine as well.

This one makes a fixed 10" radius. Since I only make guitars for myself, and 10" is my favorite, that's all I need. But I could totally make more bases for it - 6 small pieces of MDF is all that's needed. The router carriage and the base track could stay the same.

    Lots of progress today!

This set of pictures details how I made the notched puck holders.

    Let me know your thought/questions.

Up next came the slot for the router bit that will do the carving for the neck jig.

I made a stupid mistake when I was trying to start the notch cut...

But fixing it was just a drill press away.

And the notch turned out great!

It's a little confusing. We had multiple projects going at once today.

The first set of pucks got finished up. It only took a few times of of having the pucks ripped out of my hand before switching to the orbital sander to do the finessing.

It was crazy hot in the garage in north FL today. And there was a Pokemon Go event.

We got lunch by the ocean. And caught lots of Evee.

We also found a 3d printed Evee that someone made and left outside. What a cool little treat.

after that we finished the fretboard radius jig.

As always let me know if you have any questions about how we did anything.

As a side note... The clouds were beautiful today!

I used threaded inserts on the neck holder side for the pucks.

they were a major pain to install! They're very brittle and easy to break.
